Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and passionate HR Manager to lead all aspects of our human resources practices and processes. If you have strong expertise in benefits, payroll, and performance management, and are a go-to person for employee-related matters, this role is perfect for you! You will play a key role in managing activities such as job design, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training & development, and talent management. Our people are our most valuable asset, and as the HR Manager, you will be essential to creating a happy and productive workplace that reflects our values and culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with our organizational goals.
  • Foster strong relationships between management and employees by addressing any concerns or grievances.
  • Lead the recruitment and selection process, ensuring we attract the best talent.
  • Support our team's growth through development, engagement, and retention initiatives.
  • Oversee and refine HR strategies, systems, and procedures across the organization.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Manage a performance appraisal system that encourages high performance.
  • Maintain and administer our pay and benefits programs.
  • Identify training needs and oversee the implementation of training programs.
  • Provide management with HR metrics to support informed decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements in all aspects of human resource management.
  • Assist with finance and communications activities as needed.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience as an HR Manager or similar HR leadership role.
  • A people-oriented and results-driven approach.
  • Strong experience with HR metrics and systems.
  • Critical thinking and leadership skills.
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • The ability to build and manage relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices, especially in Indigenous organizations.

Requirements

  • A demonstrated commitment to our mission and values.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • High professionalism and outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Background in agriculture, Indigenous food sovereignty, and rural tribal communities is a plus.
  • Commitment to equity and justice in the Indigenous food sovereignty movement.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least five years of experience in HR management, with a successful track record in recruiting, onboarding, benefits management, and training.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in technology platforms such as Google Suite, ADP Run, MS Office, Zoom, and database management.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Job Type: Part-time, .5 FTE
  • Salary: $40,000 per year
  • Location: Remote (Preferred locations: AZ, NM, WI, MN, WA)
  • Benefits:
    • Wellness Stipend: $500 per month
    • Office Stipend: $50 per month
    • Paid Time Off
    • Paid Holidays
  • Schedule: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday
