Role Overview

In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering financial planning and analysis services to a diverse portfolio of early-stage startup companies. Collaborating closely with senior finance leaders, you will support high-growth clients (from Seed to Series C stages) by analyzing their business, developing comprehensive financial models, enhancing forecasting, refining financial reporting, and leveraging data to drive strategic decisions. You will be responsible for meeting deadlines, creating and managing financial forecasts, budgets, and analyses, with guidance and support as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models for various business types, including e-commerce, technology, professional services, and consumer products.
  • Create performance reports and custom financial & operating KPI dashboards; provide monthly KPI reports.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to review and validate monthly financial performance of clients.
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis, comparing actuals to budgets and forecasts.
  • Engage with clients on analytical and modeling projects beyond standard budgeting processes to add value.
  • Offer recommendations based on best practices to enhance client results, streamline internal processes, reduce costs, and drive sales.
  • Extract strategic insights from data and connect findings to broader business and industry contexts.
  • Assist clients with fundraising efforts, including building investor-facing models and leading financial diligence processes.
  • Contribute to the training and development of the Financial Analyst team.

Qualifications

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in finance-focused roles, including:
    • At least 2 years in investment banking and/or consulting.
    • At least 2 years in FP&A or strategic finance within a technology or high-growth company.
  • Strong team player with a solid work ethic.
  • Excellent financial modeling and presentation skills.
  • In-depth understanding of financial principles and growing knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Ability to build complex three-statement financial forecasts and perform detailed variance analysis to guide business decisions.
  • Comfort with data and ambiguity, with the ability to adapt priorities and dive into details as needed.
  • Effective communicator with the skill to simplify complex concepts into actionable recommendations for both internal teams and clients.
  • Highly organized, with the capability to manage multiple client workstreams and respond to ad-hoc requests efficiently.
  • Passion for teaching and helping others develop their FP&A skills.
