Your missions

Headquartered in Boston, Forward Financing has been recognized as a Best Place to Work by the Boston Business Journal and Built In Boston and is certified as a Great Place to Work.® At Forward, we believe every business deserves financial opportunity. That’s why we provide fast, flexible capital to small businesses that have often been underserved by traditional financing options. Our mission is to build a world-class fintech company so our customers and people can reach their full potential. We’re investing in our employees, technology, and customer experience – with long-term success in mind every step of the way.

Forward Financing serves a vast set of users, including small business owners who need fast financing, financial institution partners who work with those owners, and several internal operational teams. Each user type has specific goals and needs from our internal applications. That’s where you come in. The business is thriving, and we’re on a mission to create world-class digital experiences for all our users. Your job as a Senior Product Designer at Forward Financing is to understand these complex user needs and use those insights to build an intuitive, accessible, and delightful platform with product and engineering partners.

In this role, you will:
  • Partner closely with our Product Managers to understand what our users need, want, and love across our applications.
  • Craft every detail of new product features, from ideation, quick iterations, prototyping, user testing, and production, across all screen sizes. This can include artifacts such as sketches, wireframes, comps, prototypes, and more.
  • Be able to zoom out to understand business impact, as well as zoom into UX and UI details, from typography, layout, and interactions.
  • Evolve and consolidate our design systems and component library with patterns that are intuitive and practical.
  • Share your work in regular design reviews where you’ll seek out specific feedback on your designs from all necessary stakeholders.
  • Conduct research or partner with others to understand customer needs and translate those insights into products and features that solve real problems.
Role Requirements:

(Even if you don’t check every box, but see yourself contributing, please apply.)

  • 5+ years of designing clear, intuitive, and visually appealing digital experiences and shipping products as the only designer on projects
  • Proficiency in Figma and design systems. (Do you love Auto Layout? Us too.)
  • Ability to design polished, high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes, showcasing a passion for the tiniest details
  • Low ego and good listening skills, with the desire to understand the needs of customers and the business and to explore and advocate for the strongest user experience
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and design peers
  • Strong written, verbal, and storytelling skills to articulate your design decisions to people throughout the company, from executives to engineers
  • A learning and growth mindset with an ability to self-start on problems, a willingness to own problems, and a desire to make things better
  • An online portfolio with web design samples
  • Basic knowledge of how websites are constructed with HTML and CSS
Forward Financing Core Values:
  • Drive the Mission - We believe in financial opportunity for underserved small businesses. We say “yes” when others say “no.”
  • Keep It Real - We value direct communication, candid feedback, and authenticity. We are an open book.
  • Act With Kindness - We create an environment where caring is cool and helping is the norm. We do the right thing.
  • Shoot for Extraordinary - We are inspired by innovative thinking and continuous improvement. We never settle for yesterday’s best.
About Us:

Forward Financing is a fintech company headquartered in Boston that provides fast, flexible, and reliable capital to small businesses nationwide. Perks & Benefits:

At Forward, our team members are at the heart of our company, and we are committed to taking care of them as people, not just employees. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, and commuter benefits, a flexible time-off policy, 401k match, wellness reimbursement, paid volunteering days, annual professional development budget, and charitable donation match.

At Forward, employee choice means each individual gets to decide where they work. Almost all team members have the choice of where to live and where to work. As a business, we are focused on impact; we are more concerned with your contributions to the success of the company than where you get your work done. If face-to-face time is desired, people managers are empowered to find a cadence that works for their team.

When we aren’t collaborating to drive business and support our customers, we’re finding virtual and in-person ways to get to know our colleagues, celebrate team wins, and have fun together!
