POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) Services within the Department of Psychiatry, the Clinician for the Community-Based Telehealth Hubs will be responsible for the direct provision of behavioral health services through telemedicine to patients connecting from a Telehealth Hub. The Community-Based Telehealth Hubs an IBH initiative that collaborates with community agencies to create spaces outside of BMC from which patients can connect to their behavioral health telehealth visits, with the goal of increasing access to behavioral health care by addressing various barriers such as privacy concerns and limited technological literacy. The clinician will serve as a member of the Community-Based Telehealth Hubs team and provide direct clinical services to patients across the lifespan, including: psychosocial assessments and diagnosis clarification; treatment planning; targeted, evidence-based treatment; risk assessments; communication with a wide range of social, governmental and legal agencies, courts, schools, clinics, hospitals, physicians and other sources in the overall care of the patient. The clinician will also collaborate with the team and partnering agencies to formulate, plan, and implement outreach activities that actively connect patients in the community to the telehealth hubs for individual behavioral health services.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Complete psychosocial assessments
  • Plan and implement targeted, evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment
  • Complete risk assessments as indicated; report any and all suspected cases of abuse and neglect and follows up to ensure patient receives timely comprehensive consultations and compliance with legal mandates
  • Comply with institutional, departmental, regulatory and professional requirements for patient confidentiality, documentation recording, and data collection
  • Follow established hospital emergency and safety procedures
  • Utilize the hospital's behavioral standards as the basis for decision-making and to facilitate the hospital’s mission
  • Attend team meetings as indicated with punctuality and consistency
  • Collaborate with partner community agencies to facilitate provision of services
  • Maintain competency in areas of responsibility to ensure quality care
  • Obtain continuing education as necessary to maintain licensure

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Requires Master’s Degree from an accredited school of Social Work or school of Mental Health Counseling or related field as determined by the Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Services

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Requires a Massachusetts License: Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or  Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)

EXPERIENCE:

N/A

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):

  • Bilingual proficiency necessary. Spanish preferred
  • Requires level of knowledge of Social Work process and community resources and agencies in relation to health, illness, and disability, and social determinants of health
  • Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with various healthcare professionals, to develop and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of racial and ethnic populations.  Cultural humility is very important
  • Previous experience or interest in community-based initiatives preferred
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
  • Computer literacy with ability to use standard word processing, spreadsheet programs and e-mail (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and web browsers.
  • Must be comfortable in a dynamic work environment (sense of humor is valued)
