Job Description:

This position is responsible for working with business line leader leadership, product management, and other relevant stakeholders to define and prioritize requirements. Steers the vision of the TR content tools development and works with the leadership team to set the team's program increments (PI), monitor and assess the backlog and shepherds the PI team to a successful deployment.

This position is also responsible in helping the Business Application to implement TR content tools development in support of business strategic objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act in the role of Product Owners and collaborate with Product Managers to develop the roadmap and translate into team backlogs.
  • Becomes deeply familiar with Vertex’s mission, vision, practices, market, customers, services, and systems.
  • Serves as a voice to clarify the expectations of customers on new or already existing products and stays abreast of industry trends.
  • Translates product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborates with business owners in defining business processes.
  • Takes the lead on providing product vision and direction to the agile team throughout the program iterations.
  • Leads and/or participates in customer planning and stakeholder demo meetings to give feedback on sprint achievements.
  • Owns the objectives for the team PI and ensure common understanding and priority rating.
  • Works in partnership with Product Design to define the user experience for customers.
  • Monitors the progress of product development, as well as plan for product release.
  • Defines customer and end user perspective for added product features and accountable for acceptance criteria for program increments.
  • Analyzes solution management direction, customer input and feedback to determine features or components that will add value to the product.
  • Assesses value, develops cases, and prioritizes stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy.
  • Keeps up to date on best practices, business processes, and procedures.
  • Organizes and documents activities surrounding problem analysis and resolution. Ensure new learning from problem resolution is applied to improve processes;
  • Collaborates with other internal groups to determine and prioritize business needs and requirements ensuring the development of solutions and/or online offerings in the agreed upon timeframe;
  • Ensures that client satisfaction is being monitored and continuously improved.
  • Establish effective processes and practices for knowledge sharing and communication.
  • Guide overall team activity to support team/business objectives.
  • Clarify how change will help the organization meet business goals and articulate benefits of change.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine appropriate resourcing of staff in order to achieve goals and objectives
  • Define annual Key Performance Indicators aligned with corporate goals.
  • Manage and mentor employees on performance gaps, career development opportunities, and strategies.
  • Manage and coach employees on all human resource related processes including onboarding, performance management, succession planning, employee relations, selection, terminations, compensation and rewards.
  • Recognize others’ contributions and share credit for success.
  • Own attainment of high employee satisfaction and retention; lead development of program and initiatives within group to attain high employee satisfaction.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Six (6) plus years of experience is required in business analysis, requirements definition, and software solutions development or experience in software development; financial or tax technology experience or work in a Tax Department.
  • Experience working as a Product Owner in an agile environment is a plus.
  • Experience delivering commercial software to large corporations via SAFe is a plus.
  • Experience translating business strategy into specific product features is a plus.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
