About the role
The Director of Practice Development will play an integral role in market-based expansion through either acquisition, denovo, office growth opportunities and relationships requisite to support the Company’s projected growth. Responsible for researching potential targets, market development and ownership, strategic mapping of acquisitions in key geographies, Letter of Intent negotiation, building and maintaining CRM database of optometrists, calling/visiting doctors interested in selling their practice(s), evaluating practices, making recommendations on practices for the company to acquire or turn down with the goal of identifying the office in a desirable market that will set us up well for revenue and contribution growth over time, as well as maintaining relationships with other key industry participants such as sales reps, state optometric societies, etc. This position is a key focal point of MyEyeDr.’s efforts to continue to grow the business and build shareholder value. This role will report to the EVP, Practice Development.

This is a remote role with up to 70% or travel within the states of MI, IN, IL, OH, TN, WI, and KY. Candidates must reside in one of these states (IL or OH preferred). This role may also require occasional travel to our Vienna, VA or Raleigh, NC office as determined by your manager.

 

You Will

  • Trackable outreach to optometrist to partner with – cold email/calling, utilizing a network of optometrists to form relationships, letter writing, HubSpot campaigns, etc.
  • Explain the value proposition of MyEyeDr. and why we’re the partner of choice for optometrists
  • Building database of potential acquisitions in target geographies where MyEyeDr. has identified we want to grow
  • Market development and ownership
    • Development of the market expansion strategy in the assigned territories
    • Knowing which optometrist MyEyeDr. should partner with in each trade area, when that optometrist is going to sell, building a relationship so that we’re the partner of choice when that doctor does sell, etc.
    • Partnership with operations, professional services and real estate on creation of a market plan – how many locations is MyEyeDr. going to have in a metro area, what trade areas are they going to be in, will we enter via acquisition, denovo or hybrid denovo
    • Working with operations and professional services to support office performance by getting partnered doctors aligned, utilizing network to hire doctors in their markets, identifying opportunities to deploy capital in markets (equipment, lanes, etc.)
  • Negotiate effectively a Letter of Intent with selling Optometrists 
  • Identifying doctors that will have the right partnership mindset – willingness to adapt during integration, lead the practice post transaction
  • Achieve financial targets from both a revenue, contribution, and multiple paid perspective
  • Using HubSpot software to record and manage key interactions with doctors, consistently daily.
  • Researching, understanding and tracking competitor dynamics, demographics, real estate, etc. in geographies of interest.
  • Site tours of practices, including photos, write-ups, and mystery shopping as potential patient.
  • Organizing and attending meetings with doctors.
  • Representing MyEyeDr at key industry events.
  • Preparing write-ups and recommendations for Executive Vice President of Practice Development and CEO.
  • Continue to follow up with Optometrist post partnership to ensure they are pleased with their experience and are willing to refer their friends.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

About You

  • 8+ years’ experience working in the optometric industry or other related M&A business
  • 8+ years’ experience building and managing a sizable list of target accounts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Managerial experience would be beneficial for the future as we intend to hire and train a larger team as the business grows.
  • Experience with financial statements would be beneficial but not a requirement.
  • Travel up to 70% of the time may be required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to form lasting relationships
  • Be detail oriented and well organized.  We are often managing a significant number of ongoing conversations with doctors, and it is important to stay on top of the specifics of each situation (the doctor certainly will, because this will be one of the biggest decisions/transactions of their career).
  • Proficient with CRM software and reliable in updating daily interactions.
  • Be a contributor to MyEyeDr.’s efforts to strategically acquire the right practices, not simply a salesman excited about chasing every potential deal.
  • Provide a high level of analysis and strategic thinking for the organization.
  • Be seen as a respected industry participant while serving as a key representative of MyEyeDr. and an ambassador for the brand.
