Who we are

Stavvy is transforming how business is conducted remotely by making complex legal and financial transactions easier, safer, and more accessible to all. Whether we are working to enable title companies to facilitate remote closings in a safe way, better connecting lenders with the businesses they use during the home buying process, or building the next set of tools for the platform, Stavviators (our employees) are disruptors at heart. Our team is constantly iterating, solving problems, and working together to simplify life's defining moments. If you want to help power the paperless revolution, join us at Stavvy!

In this Staff Software Engineer role, you will be an integral part of the Engineering team, responsible for setting the vision for our core application

What You'll Do
  • Provide direction and guidance for large feature work from the inception stage
  • Assist a product delivery team with refactoring and enforcing core architectural principles while we consolidate and reduce complexity to improve the user experience
  • Focus on our core application, but also be aware of our additional product(s) and their interactions
  • Express thoughtful opinions and know-how on implementing enterprise-grade systems at the code and schema levels as well as distributed systems architecture
  • Champion a holistic engineering approach that accounts for SDLC and CICD best practices in terms of development velocity and risk management
  • Lay out the foundations for new services in Kotlin/Java and Python and ensure their implementation not only to functional requirements, but to performance, scalability, security, and other technical characteristics
  • Recognize, classify, prioritize, and business-justify investments in servicing tech debt
  • Collaborate with our product, design, and development teams in order to fully create and understand the requirements for what is necessary to be produced
  • Lead investigations when necessary to resolve production issues, always putting our customers first
  • Grow yourself and your team’s engineering skills by mentoring other engineers and reviewing code to ensure high code quality and continuous improvement

  • Who You Are
  • Strong development background with 10+ years experience in Java/Kotlin, Python, and/or other environments
  • Solid computer science fundamentals and demonstrable hands-on experience with architectural design and complex systems
  • You have experience designing systems that scale as validated through performance and load testing
  • A profound understanding of how to best create modern SaaS-based web applications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure development and tech stacks (AWS strongly preferred), familiarity with Git for version control, and back-end deployment process best practices
  • Hands-on experience with SQL databases and other persistence models and caching schemes
  • Experience with DataDog and a strong interest in observability is a plus
  • You have led high-level technical projects or have been the primary engineering leader of multi-month engineering projects
  • Skilled at conflict management and resolution; advocating for your ideas strongly while listening and integrating the ideas of others equally strongly
  • Natural collaborator and problem solver who thrives in fast-paced environments
  • Relentlessly curious and are continuously working to learn and build your knowledge
  • You put customers first and are open to help triage on the occasional customer or partner call
