Being a Workday Extend Lead Engineer at Kainos means you'll be at the forefront of innovation within the Workday ecosystem, crafting solutions that redefine the boundaries of what is possible. You’ll lead the development of cutting-edge Workday Extend applications enhancing the user experiences and streamlining operations for some of the world’s leading organizations. Your responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of specialist Extend consultants on projects, ensuring the successful delivery of Extend solutions for the cloud-based Workday system. 

  • Work closely with clients to manage the full lifecycle of the project from gathering requirements, documenting, implementing, deploying right through to supporting applications, using the Workday Extend platform toolset. 

  • Build strong relationships with our customers to understand their requirements, ensuring that the solution is aligned to their needs, fit for purpose and commercially viable. 

  • Guide, develop and educate others within the Workday practice on the area of Extend while building and improving specialist knowledge in your capability.

  • People Management: Your role may involve managing people. Where you do have direct reports, your responsibilities will include: setting and reviewing team’s goals and making sure those are met. You will identify training needs to support the team’s development, so team members can achieve their career aspirations. You will as review weekly workload forecasts and get involved in recruitment. 

What we are looking for: 

  • Workday certification: Workday Partner/Pro certification is a must. You should have previous hands-on experience in building Workday applications.

  • Technical proficiency: Previously worked with XML, REST, SOAP, JSON, and be knowledgeable in an object-oriented programming language (preferably J2EE). 

  • Engineering know-how: Experienced in designing, building, testing, and maintaining Workday apps to address business and technical issues. Proficient in cloud computing, web services, and related challenges. Can contribute to technical decisions in a collaborative team setting, including architecture, estimation, product planning, and user story/requirement creation. 

  • Great communicator: Proficiency in English is a must. You’re a clear and effective communicator, able to communicate with customers and colleagues with credibility and empathy, including in a remote working situation.  

  • Best practice and delivery: Commercially aware with a strong grasp of project and business dynamics. Can efficiently plan and meet deadlines, applying standards for high-quality work. Innovative, consistently seeking improvements in tools and processes. 

  • Consulting abilities: You have previous consulting/advisory experience working with international customers on multiple simultaneous projects. Able to understand customer needs and build relationships. You’re eager to deliver presentations, participate in workshops, and explain functionality or solutions.

Desirable requirements:  

  • People Management: previous people management experience in a remote and international environment.
