Job Summary
As a full-stack engineer in our platform team, you will be responsible for developing our platform software and integrating it with all major cloud providers (such as GCP, Azure, and AWS). Your expertise will contribute to the development and maintenance of our platform tools. You will also help with internal DevOps requests and contribute to the maintenance and development of applications under the MetaGravity/Edge of Chaos ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Cloud Integration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate our in-house platform with major cloud providers, ensuring compatibility, scalability, and security.
- Develop a deep understanding of the unique aspects and limitations of various cloud providers, and devise strategies to address these challenges, with the goal of establishing a cloud-agnostic framework.
Platform Tool Development and Maintenance:
- Develop and maintain platform tools that enhance efficiency, automation, and reliability.
- Create APIs, scripts, and utilities to streamline platform operations.
- Continuously improve existing tools based on feedback and evolving requirements.
Internal Platform and DevOps Support:
- Assist internal teams with platform-related requests.
- Troubleshoot issues, provide technical guidance, and optimise processes.
- Collaborate with DevOps engineers to enhance deployment pipelines, monitoring, and infrastructure management
Build and Maintain Client-Facing SPAs:
- Take ownership of developing and sustaining a variety of single-page applications, including both legacy systems and new projects.
- Utilise your expertise in frontend technologies to design clean, intuitive UIs that offer an exceptional user experience, and apply backend skills to ensure robust, scalable, and secure server-side functionality.
- Ensure responsiveness across different devices and platforms, adhering to best practices in security, and continuously improving the applications to reflect our leading-edge capabilities in the technology space.
Requirements:
- 3/4 years of professional experience developing applications (full-stack)
- Skilled in front end development
- Implement immersive UIs and exceptional cross-platform UX's
- Passionate about building fluid user interfaces that delight customers
- Deep understanding of Typescript & React (Next.js)
- Skilled in backend development in
- Rust is essential
- Terraform (HCL) or similar IaC tools, Ansible (yaml) or similar
- Bash scripting
- Experience with SQL, Docker, Git and SSH
- Proven experience in cloud integration and platform engineering
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience
- You have a solid understanding of systems design, data structures, and algorithms.
- Able to operate independently and lead small teams, with little guidance
And Ideally:
- Interest in Web3 and practical experience working with Web3 technologies/libraries.
- Knowledge of game backends, Unreal Engine, or Unity

About MetaGravity
MetaGravity is a deep-technology startup headquartered in London which is solving the concurrency problem in distributed simulation to handle immense virtual worlds and games with dense player, AI and physics interactions. We are fully funded and have grown to over 60 employees over the last 12 months. Very rarely for a deep tech start-up we are earning significant revenues in our first year of operation.
Current game engines and game servers can handle a peak of ~100 players in a self-consistent “instance”. However, the next generation of online games and metaverse experiences demand much larger simulated realities beyond what is currently feasible — think, tens of thousands to millions of players and AI beings in a single instance. MetaGravity is solving this problem. We’re working from first principles to build distributed computing infrastructure that is limitless in its ability to scale, thus empowering creators to craft truly living, breathing worlds. We are also dog-fooding our tech by building our own mediaeval fantasy sandbox MMO game called Edge of Chaos, leveraging all of the potential of the MetaGravity infrastructure and blockchain platforms.

Location
We offer a flexible working model depending on your individual needs. We are headquartered in London, UK and Warsaw, Poland. Candidates for this position must be located in Europe and be able to work in a European time zone. We have a Warsaw hub with an office that you can use.
