Your missions

Talascend is currently seeking a Design Engineering Program Manager for a remote contract opportunity.

OVERVIEW:

Project: Heavy Truck Interior

Interior Cabin for US Brand with the focus of US Customer needs taking in to account mainly US homologation rules. (3DX)
Exterior cabin and Platform constraints will be an input to start the interior definition and convergence.
In both cases the project steering and ergonomics definition will a direct responsibility with support of the selected contractor.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create typical guide sections as defined by the agreed section map.
Concept Sheet showing the technical solution as a summary of the activities.
Create High level modularity.
Create Rough 3d Data of the components needed.
Create and maintain a LOP of open point and Concept Sheet with engineering Statements of work for the concept scope (to be updated constantly and delivered officially on monthly basis).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

5+ years of experience in the feasibility study and product development in the concept development phase for Heavy truck interior. Availability to travel to US as resident at Customer premises.
Specific knowledge in the general heavy truck layout and Benchmark tools and knowledge of manufacturing process for the following technologies.
Specific knowledge in Concept Development activities with focus on Heavy Trucks accrued on previous applications and with the knowledge of 3DX environment.
Knowledge in the design of components and assembly parts in plastics, steel and aluminum, with knowledge of assembly technologies, fixing technologies welding, gluing, assembly tolerances and in general it is required autonomy in Concept development.
It is required knowledge in the use of the 3DX at an excellent level for the construction of CAD data according to the principles of parametric design.
Ability to hold meetings and prepare presentations with Microsoft Power Point.

Contractor Engineering Technical Skills:

Manufacturing Technologies:

Aluminum casting, aluminum stamping, Steel stamping, joining technologies and Injection moulding technologies.

Assembly technologies:

Fixing technologies for plastic and sheet metal element, welding, gluing, assembly sequence an understanding of tolerances chain

Package and Ergonomics:

Main dimensions measurement knowledge (Length, Width, Height, Ramp angles, Step, …)
Basic understanding of the package requirements including VW tools
Knowledge of handling and usage performances measures (Door/Hood/Sleeping Cabin, Fuel pipe accessibility, …)

Exterior Performances:

EU/CN Homologation
NAR Homologation
Safety Ratings (CIASI)
Customer Ratings (EU-NCAP, CN-NCAP)
Aerodynamic and Cooling requirements
Perceived quality (wiper position, black prints definition, …)
