Overview

Reporting to the SVP, Global Rare Business Unit, the Strategy and Operations Lead will have broad responsibility for strategic planning and operational coordination of Alnylam’s Global Rare Business Unit. S/he will serve as the primary “owner” of governance processes, developing the long-term vision for the BU, as well as supporting team culture initiatives.

S/he will cultivate operational excellence, drive clarity and simplify complexities within the Rare business via the tools of leadership team operations, governance, budgeting and collaboration/mutual trust between internal and external stakeholders (i.e. medical affairs, internal communications, HR, finance, key leaders, external partners). This individual serves as a key member of the Global Rare Commercial leadership team and will actively and energetically contribute to the Rare strategic vision, decision-making and execution as well as embody the values envisaged of company senior leaders.

Role based in Cambridge MA, 30% travel time in the US and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage Rare Unit Governance Model
    • Identify key meetings needs
    • Oversee preparation for meetings (agendas, materials, action items)
    • Collaborate with meeting owners of other key governance bodies to ensure potential duplication of effort/discussion is avoided and ensure the right discussions occur at the appropriate forums
    • Prepare read out communications materials, designed to keep interested parties appraised and informed of the meeting while containing meeting size
  • Coordinate and prepare Quarterly Business Reviews, monthly business reviews and any ad hoc business review (build slides, set-up meetings and help develop a clear, concise story)
  • Lead and oversee annual planning and ongoing goal and resource tracking within Commercial
    • Drive formation and tracking of Rare unit goals
    • In collaboration with marketing, medical affairs, finance and others expertise areas, co-ordinate strategic and tactical planning, rare unit investment plan and LRP processes.
    • Support tracking of priorities across the Global Rare Unit
  • Develop roadmap of Global Rare Unit long term vision in collaboration with colleagues within department and business partners.
  • Responsible for driving progress, reporting, identifying and mitigating risks, and issue escalation related to the overall goals
  • Responsible to drive team culture related initiatives
  • Liaise cross-functionally (Internal Communications, Legal, Finance, Procurement, HR, and other functions as necessary) to support efficient and timely execution of commercial objectives. Independently identify and resolve issues limiting execution with focus on simplification. Responsible for identifying, recommending, and executing process improvement initiatives within Global Rare Unit.
  • Lead strategic projects to increase organizational and operational effectiveness
  • Develop key strategic presentation for the SVP Head of Rare BU, including performance reviews, board decks, townhalls etc.
  • Active and engaged member of the Global Rare Unit Leadership Team. Responsible for facilitation and participation in discussion and decision-making as well as meeting coordination: setting agenda, capturing and sharing minutes, assisting presenters with preparation for the meetings.
Qualifications
