Your missions

Overview:

LMI is seeking a skilled Policy Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the United States Postal Service (USPS) and U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS). The Policy SME will manage the assessment, adjudication, updating, and reporting on USPS policies that have been identified to fine-tune or retire. The Policy SME will help support project management, strategic guidance, reporting, administrative tasks and the day-to-day activities of a team of policy analysts. The Policy SME will conduct deep policy analyses, review work, ensure alignment with law and regulation, and support excellence and consistency across LMI work products. A successful Policy SME will support their Task Lead and Program Manager in developing solutions to policy issues, navigating customer relationships, maintaining team discipline and diligence, facilitating team activities, shepherding forward excellent products, maintaining deadlines and requirements, and delivering high-quality outputs to the client.

Responsibilities:
  • Support growth opportunities to expand the portfolio and support the sale of LMI’s Lines of Business
  • Support the Task Lead and Program Manager to mature and evolve overall program management capabilities, including quality assurance, time to deliver on growth and schedule adjustments, and task management
  • Support with expertise the development and writing of policies and policy-related materials (guidance documents, standard operating procedures, etc.) to direct work processes
  • Support and lead coordination, scheduling, and administrative duties
  • Organize and maintain a task management system and cadence for the development and delivery of project deliverables
  • Lead and communicate the development of policy deliverables for USPS review
  • Help the LMI team deliver excellence, including reaching program milestone achievements and assessing customer feedback
  • Coordinate engagement with USPS stakeholders, including steering committees and working groups, to develop roles, responsibilities, and an implementation plan for execution of work.
  • Ensure consistency across products and recommendations related to policy taxonomy and treatment
Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in a policy, management, business, or related field
  • Minimum of 15 years consulting experience
  • Minimum of 5 years supporting operations for a government agency
  • Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with a “client first” attitude
  • Strong organizational skills and an understanding of project management best practices
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and exhibit flexibility based on changing client needs

Desired Skills:

  • Experience leading policy analysis teams preferred
  • Experience supporting USPS or USPIS highly preferred
  • Experience in law enforcement or related policy
  • 10+ years supporting federal or commercial entities
  • U.S. Postal Service experience preferred
  • Human Centered Design (HCD) training and/or experience
  • High level of business acumen, ability to develop and implement strategy
