The Role:

Manager, Engineering, you’ll lead a passionate, innovative team of software engineers who are dedicated to building solutions that make a real difference. You’ll guide the team in designing, developing, and deploying software that aligns with our mission to provide accessible, compassionate mental health care. Your leadership will ensure technical excellence, foster a collaborative environment, and drive engineering goals that are deeply integrated with Mindful Care’s strategic vision. 

Key Responsibilities 

Team Leadership: 

  • Lead, mentor, and empower a global team of software engineers, supporting their professional growth and encouraging innovation. 
  • Cultivate a high-performance, collaborative team culture that emphasizes continuous improvement and open communication. 
  • Implement processes that support cross-functional, self-organizing teams. 
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and one-on-one meetings, setting clear, actionable goals and providing constructive feedback. 

Project Management: 

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of software projects, ensuring they meet our high standards and deadlines. 
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and scope. 
  • Manage project risks and resolve any issues that could impact timelines or quality. 
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors to overcome dependencies and maintain project momentum. 

Technical Oversight: 

  • Ensure the technical excellence of our software, including code quality, architecture, and scalability. 
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and technologies, recommending improvements and integrating best practices. 
  • Review and approve technical designs, code changes, and system architectures to maintain the integrity of our software. 

Strategic Planning: 

  • Work closely with senior leadership to align engineering objectives with Mindful Care’s mission and business goals. 
  • Develop and execute strategies for scaling engineering practices and processes. 
  • Contribute to long-term technology roadmaps and innovation strategies that support our mission. 

Process Improvement: 

  • Implement and refine engineering processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality. 
  • Monitor and report on team performance metrics and project progress. 
  • Define, document, and standardize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and reliability. 

Qualifications 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or 5+ years of experience managing a software development team. 

Experience: 

  • 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with a proven track record of managing and leading engineering teams. 
  • Strong experience in the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including hands-on coding and architecture design. 
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools like Jira. 

Skills: 

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills. 
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Expertise in object-oriented programming and functional programming languages. 
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, Elixir, JavaScript (Node.js, React.js). 
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Snowflake, Ascend.IO, PowerBI, AWS. 
  • Previous experience in healthcare application development.
  • Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master) or relevant technical certifications. 

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $100,000-$150,000 (to commensurate with experience)
  • Type: Exempt W2 Full-Time
  • Schedule: Monday- Friday Variable hours
  • Remote (with quarterly travel to HQ in NY)
