The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud cost management and demonstrate proficiency in identifying cost-saving opportunities, implementing cost optimization strategies, and experience implementing FinOps practices. 

What You’ll Do 

Cloud Cost Analysis, Monitoring, and Reporting: 

  • Analyze cloud usage patterns and costs to identify areas of potential optimization. 

  • Monitor and track cloud expenses, identifying cost drivers and variances. 

  • Prepare regular reports on cloud spending trends, forecasts, and cost allocations. 

  • Conduct regular cost reviews and provide actionable insights to stakeholders. 

Cost Optimization Strategies: 

  • Develop and implement cost optimization strategies to reduce overall cloud spend while maintaining operational effectiveness. 

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for resource optimization, such as rightsizing, utilizing reserved instances, and optimizing storage usage. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize cost optimization initiatives and track their impact over time. 

Financial Governance and Budgeting: 

  • Assist in establishing cloud expense budgets and forecasts. 

  • Track actual spending against budgets, identifying and resolving any deviations. 

  • Develop and implement internal financial governance processes and controls to ensure cost optimization strategies are adhered to. 

Cloud Cost Tools and Technologies: 

  • Stay updated on the latest cloud cost management tools and technologies. 

  • Leverage cloud cost management tools to automate monitoring, reporting, and optimization processes. 

Technical Expertise:  

  • Develop a deep understanding of the organization's cloud architecture and services. 

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest cloud technologies, pricing models, and cost optimization best practices. 

  • Provide technical guidance to engineering and operations teams on cost-efficient cloud usage. 

Automation and Tooling:  

  • Develop and maintain automated scripts and tools to monitor cloud costs and identify optimization opportunities. 

  • Integrate cost management tools with existing cloud infrastructure and monitoring systems. 

Collaboration and Communication: 

  • Collaborate with IT and finance teams to align cost optimization efforts with organizational goals and initiatives. 

  • Foster a culture of cost awareness and accountability across the organization. 

  • Provide guidance, best practices, and training to stakeholders on cloud cost optimization strategies and tools. 

Who You Are 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems or related field. MBA or relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner) are a plus. 

  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. 

  • Deep understanding of cost drivers, pricing models, and cost optimization levers. 

  • Proficient in cloud cost management, including experience with tools and technologies (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, Harness CCM). 

  • Proficient in cloud cost analysis, reporting, and optimization techniques. 

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and data analysis. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to adapt to evolving cloud technologies and cost management practices. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams. 

Estimated total compensation ran for this position is:

175,000.00 – 200,000.00 USD per year

The pay range listed is a total compensation range including bonus, if applicable. The provided range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.
