Title: Legal Research Clerk/Intern
Dates: Start September 2024, ending May 2025 working 10-15 hours per week with time off as needed for school work
Location: Remote - We encourage 2L UW Madison Law School and Marquette Law School students to apply.
Pay: $26 per hour

Job Purpose:

This role is designed to provide hands-on legal and compliance experience within the TruStage Legal Department. Candidates will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in a classroom environment while gaining new skills in a dynamic professional setting.

Job Responsibilities:
List of general activities, duties and/or tasks typically performed within the job.

  • Provide legal research support to in-house attorneys and compliance professionals, including but not limited to insurance, lending and marketing regulation, privacy, and corporate law.
  • Assist in communicating legal and compliance requirements and partnering with business teams to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory obligations.

Job Requirements:

List of general education, background and experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities typically required to effectively perform the responsibilities of the job. Also include any required licenses and/or designations.

  • Working towards a relevant degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and the desire to learn

Preferred Experience:
 

  • Must be currently enrolled in law school (preferably 2L), working towards a law degree.
  • 2L law student with an interest in administrative law and/or financial services regulation.
  • Strong computer (MS Office—Word, Excel, Outlook), analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are a must as well as intellectual curiosity and the desire to learn.
  • Honesty, integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality are required.
  • Must be able to think, act, and prioritize in a pressured, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Base Salary Range:

$24.00 - $33.00
