Position Summary:

The Virtual Assistant (VA) for Backend Development will provide essential support to the backend development team by handling a variety of administrative, maintenance, and preliminary technical tasks. This role is designed to alleviate the workload of backend developers by managing routine and lower-level tasks, enabling them to focus on more complex and critical development activities. The VA will be responsible for tasks such as basic database management, API integration support, code documentation, script development, testing and debugging, performance monitoring, and server maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess a basic understanding of backend development processes, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.

JOB ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Basic Website/CMS Support:

• Assist in routine website maintenance tasks such as CMS and plugin updates.
  

• Assist in new site setups within hosting accounts
  

Basic Database Management:

• Perform routine data entry and updates in databases.
  

• Monitor database performance and report any issues.
  

• Assist in database backups and ensure data integrity.
  

API Integration Support:

• Assist in integrating third-party APIs into existing systems.
  

• Perform initial testing of API integrations and document any issues.
  

Documentation:

• Document backend code changes and updates for future reference and team collaboration.
  

• Maintain and update documentation for backend processes and standard operating procedures.
  

Basic Script Development:

• Write and maintain basic scripts for automation and data processing tasks.
  

• Ensure scripts are well-documented and adhere to best practices.
  

Testing and Debugging:

• Conduct initial testing and debugging of backend systems and applications.
  

• Report and document any bugs or issues found during testing.
  

Performance Monitoring:

• Monitor website performance and report any areas for improvement.
  

• Use analytics tools to gather data on website performance, web vitals and user interactions.
  

Code Reviews:

• Conduct preliminary code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  

• Provide feedback and suggest improvements for code quality, performance, and scalability.
  

User Authentication and Security:

• Assist in managing user authentication processes.
  

• Monitor security logs and report any potential security issues.
  

Administrative Tasks:

• Manage and organize development-related documentation and files.
  

• Assist with scheduling and coordination of development team meetings.
