The Team and Job Summary


We are seeking a contents consultant to join our team within our High-Net-Worth Contents Division. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven person with a well-rounded skill set to join the contents team, whose responsibilities extend beyond those of traditional content specialists. The ideal person for this role will need to not only have a strong grasp of contents appraisal control, but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks.


A successful candidate will be trained to provide high-quality Contents Appraisal control and inspection services related to the property insurance field. This is a challenging and rewarding role for an ambitious individual and involves some occasional travel to post-loss sites, collecting information, analyzing, pricing, and creating reports. The role will primarily be remote.


Job Responsibilities


· Perform the necessary work to provide replacement costs and depreciation for high-end contents associated with the jewelry and gems in personal and commercial losses.

· Perform site inspections to qualify and quantify damaged contents.

· Prepare post-loss insurance reports for jewelry items.

· Coordinate communications between all stakeholders and maintain an even disposition.

· The ability to work with incomplete information such as a lack of photographs, sizes, or receipts when evaluating items.

· Establish costs, depreciation, and location pricing impacts.

· Work with conservators to obtain restoration reports.

· An understanding of depreciation and the ability to apply it to items in a claim when necessary.

· Review all final appraisal packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal submission and recommendation.

· Working with the appraisal team to complete the occasional pre-loss appraisal report.

· Successfully participate and complete all internal and external training.

· Perform additional assignments per manager's direction.

· Occasional travel as required to fulfill above-noted duties.


Required Qualifications


· Must possess 3+ years’ experience evaluating jewelry and gems in the post-loss insurance space.

· A graduate gemologist.

· Experience working with Special Investigation Units

· Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for transportation for company business.

· Must have proficient computer knowledge in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn various electronic and manual estimating systems.

· Strong analytical skills and effective communications skills are essential for this role.

· Previous experience in a Customer Service or Sales role is considered an asset.

· Related work experience in the insurance or restoration industry is considered an asset

· A full background check will be required.

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $85,000-$90,000. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.
