Job description

Paradigm is a software company transforming the way that the residential, construction & building product industries operate across the globe. We are looking for a Director of Marketplace Partnership Development to be part of revolutionizing these industries.

We are looking for someone who can lead our company's strategic initiative to expand our marketplace, serving builders in the residential construction market. You will be instrumental in enrolling distributors and wholesalers to sell their products on our platform. This position requires a nuanced approach to engage potential sellers and create collaborative partnerships. Additionally, you will work closely with manufacturers and brands, advocating the advantages of distributing their products through our marketplace.

What You Will Do:

  • You will develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to attract and onboard distributors, wholesalers, and manufacturers to our marketplace, with a focus on those serving the residential builders and their subcontractors. You will be responsible for developing local sellers on a national scale.
  • You will build an understanding of our technology and direction by quickly getting up to speed on our current and planned capabilities to clearly and accurately articulate our direction to potential partners.
  • You will build strong relationships with manufacturers and brands, persuading them of the value proposition our marketplace offers for expanding their reach and sales.
  • You will conduct in-depth market analysis to identify the best potential partners within each market (regionally or nationally). Leverage this information to tailor partnership pitches and strategies.
  • You will provide ongoing support and management of partnerships to ensure satisfaction, resolve any issues, and optimize their performance on our platform.
  • You will lead negotiations with potential partners (within set parameters), ensuring terms are favorable and align with our strategic goals. Skillfully close agreements that bring value to both parties, homebuilders and subcontractors on our marketplace.
  • You will craft and refine presentations communicating the value proposition to a variety of partners serving different aspects of home construction material needs.
  • You will collaborate with product and technical teams to ensure the marketplace meets the needs of our partners and customers.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • You have 10+ years of experience minimum, ideally 15+ in direct homebuilding industry. You’ve gained both market and product category knowledge having worked directly in selling or marketing functions of various high performing companies.
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • You have strong negotiation skills, with a track record of successfully closing partnership deals.
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building relationships with a diverse range of partners.
  • You have proven experience in B2B sales, business development, or partnership management, ideally in distribution or wholesaling serving residential construction.
  • You have knowledge of the distribution channels and sales strategies specific to the construction industry with emphasis on experience with national and regional distributors.
  • You are a strategic thinker with the ability to analyze market trends and translate them into actionable partnership strategies.
  • You have experience leading cross-functional projects and teams.
  • You have a deep understanding of the single-family residential construction market and the ecosystem of distributors, wholesalers, and manufacturers serving its needs.
  • You are equally comfortable operating at 10,000 feet and 1 foot. You don’t hesitate to get in the weeds and operate at the lowest level of detail, but you’re just as comfortable thinking long-term and inspiring a team. No job is beneath you.
  • You are unafraid of ambiguity. Rapid change and learning is exciting to you, and you thrive in ambiguous, startup environments.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to apply critical thought to develop, recommend, and implement strategies. You are analytical and let data win arguments.
  • You are a problem solver, dynamic, competitive, high-energy candidate that acts with urgency and efficiency.
  • You have strong written and oral communication skills for internal and external contact.
  • You are highly organized with experience managing multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables at an increasing scale over your career.
  • You have experience in team management, including growing, coaching, developing, and mentoring.
  • You have experience working in or with e-commerce or marketplace platforms, especially in roles that involve enrolling third-party sellers is strongly preferred.
  • You will attend industry events, tradeshows and visit potential/current partners, travel is likely to be under 25% to begin, but may fluctuate.
