We are shaping the future of research and are looking for a Director, research Analytics & Support to join the team. Your new role
Working in a highly collaborative and dynamic team environment, you will lead the analytical support for US federal government and funding organizations to empower them to make data-driven decisions leveraging our Dimensions platform. You will provide excellence in delivery that delights our customers as well as informs billions in research investment, fuels our word-of-mouth growth and our very high renewal rates – a clear indication of how we serve our customers with the best service possible.
You'll grow to become an expert in our data, software and customers and through working in collaboration with the sales team will identify ways in which to grow our customer engagements.
What You’ll Be Doing
- You will be helping leaders of science funding organizations and governments use tools and analyze data to make key decisions about scientific research funding, portfolio management, and evaluation
- Support our customers with the responsible use of data and information to make important decisions (e.g. what to fund).
- Use and show others how to use publication metrics and other data available in the Dimensions product to evaluate the impact of a researcher, program, or organization.
- Support for program staff and thought leaders to monitor and evaluate scientific research landscapes as well as their own portfolio
- Inform and manage delivery of the Dimensions product and analytical support across the team to account for workload, skill sets, customer familiarity, and other factors
- Learn and expand on your skills while delivering to customers - e.g. machine learning, bibliometrics and science policy literature reviews, data visualization techniques.
- Help clients to reach their goals through implementation, training and ongoing support for all of the Dimensions tools and services to which they subscribe.
- Listen to and understand clients' business needs and use-cases and match these to Dimensions data and tools.
- Answer questions and provide advice with a quick turnaround time on all aspects of Dimensions offerings – both externally to the research and analysis community and internally to the Digital Science team.
- Develop and maintain lasting relationships with clients built around use and awareness of Dimensions tools and new developments.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
- You will bring with you an understanding of the Science & Technology ecosystem (funders, research organizations, scientific publishing, etc) including an understanding of scientific research funding
- You'll have a knowledge and interest in bibliometrics, scientometrics, research assessment, and science policy
- You will be an expert in data analytics and visualizations powered by SQL and python
- You will have experience in managing analysis and support tasks
- You'll be an expert in research data (publications, grants, patents) including common matters such as author and institutional disambiguation, classification, linkages
- You will have experience of creating and presenting interactive training for online tools including workshop-style sessions
- You will be experienced in supporting teams to create Boolean searches to represent a topic and supporting them to think through all aspects of the topic to identify emerging areas in a field and related use cases
- You will have experience in creating and/or presenting data visualizations based on research outputs and metrics and developing new customer-facing documentation
- You will have experience creating data visualizations using such tools as Plotly, matplotlib or other
- You will have experience querying databases via SQL
- You will be experienced in working in a related field (e.g., scholarly communications, research evaluation, science policy) and be able to showcase your experience and achievements
- You will thrive in an environment where you can work independently and remotely
- You will have previous experience of working globally and across multiple teams
- You will be a strong communicator and able to communicate your findings to a varied audience through written and verbal presentation
- You will be comfortable working in a fast paced, changing environment and utilize this to empower your career with us.
- Experience working in, or engaging with, the biomedical or national security-relevant technology research communities is an asset
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining customer relationships in a collaborative multi-organization work environment.
