What You'll Do
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will apply your vision and drive to create some market leading technology. We have a phenomenal team working in an open, collaborative environment that makes taxes and compliance less taxing to deal with. It will be up to you to convert product vision and requirements into the finished product.
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our development team and design/implement integrations between enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and eCommerce platforms for our cutting-edge tax compliance solutions.
Here's What To Expect
- Integrations and Connectors: Dig into our cloud native Avalara product suite. We are looking to build and expand our market penetration through an extensive suite of integrations and connectors through a flexible, extensible platform capable of handling any source platforms. At the same time, we want to expose all the tax nuances through our integrations. Help us build this while maximizing performance, scalability and reliability and making it “oh-so-simple” to operate.
- Automation vs People Power: Computers are great for process automation but there is a limit to what it can do, and you know where that limit is. You will tackle the unique challenges that occur at the intersection of software and people driven tasks and apply these solutions to the novel business automation that Avalara aims to create.
- Industry Leadership: Avalara is the market leader, and we intend on staying that way. That means we cannot be complacent. We actively encourage everyone to make bold moves and keep testing their limits. We expect you to innovate and produce innovative ideas to make things better.
Job Duties
- Design, development, testing, and deployment of integrations between ERP systems (such as SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, NetSuite) and popular eCommerce platforms (such as Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce).

- Implement robust error handling, data validation, and data transformation mechanisms to ensure data integrity and accuracy during integration processes.
- Optimize integration performance and scalability to accommodate a growing number of clients and increasing data volumes.
- Design and implement new features and maintain existing functionalities.
- Build POCs to demonstrate the technical solution feasibility.
- Focus on security aspects, observability, scalability, and telemetry.
- Perform code reviews and ensure coding standards and practices are followed.
- Implement and follow agile/scrum processes.
- Collaborate with other teams to solve cross functional challenges.
- Optimize code to improve application efficiency.
- Ensure team is not creating technical debts.

- 5+ years of full stack experience in software design and development
- Good understanding of Object-oriented programming languages
