Your missions

What You'll Do

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Sourcing Research Analyst specializing in indirect tax to join our Content Research Team.

As a Sourcing Research Analyst, you will play a crucial role in sourcing and curating relevant tax links to capture global updates for indirect tax matters. Your primary responsibility will be to gather, analyze, and disseminate timely information on indirect tax regulations, laws, rulings, and updates from various jurisdictions worldwide.

In order to acquire/maintain the most current/accurate/timely information, the candidate must perform detailed reviews. Given the dynamic nature of indirect tax laws, a commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on developments is necessary to remain effective in this role.

  • Source and Curate Tax Links: Utilize a variety of sources including government websites, tax authorities, legal databases, industry publications, and news outlets to gather information on indirect tax regulations and updates.
  • Monitor Global Tax Developments: Stay abreast of legislative changes, rates, tax rules, indirect tax returns and other developments related to indirect taxation across different countries and regions.
  • Analyze and Summarize Information: Review and analyze tax-related content to extract key insights and summarize findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Maintain Database: Maintain an organized database of sourced tax links and related information, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and accessibility for internal Avalara stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Tax Experts: Work closely with indirect tax experts/ content researchers to validate information, provide support in researching specific tax issues
  • Communicate with Tax authority portals: Understand how to connect with the Tax Authority’s portals
  • Sourcing Automation : Use Avalara sourcing tools to configure links & automate sourcing process
  • Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and reduce redundancy in current process
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures


What You'll Need to be Successful

Required Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in Indirect tax research/ SUT/ Electronic invoicing / VAT digital reporting domain:
  • Research & Analysis experience on sourcing / publishing content (Regulatory authority rules research is preferred)
  • Indirect tax / digital reporting research experience, including a logical and creative approach to drilling down to specific data that is vital to the accuracy of the published content
  • Understanding and basic knowledge on ERP systems and their database structures (SAP, ORACLE & other ERP’s)
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)- conveying complex e-invoicing concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Analytical skills & legal research experience - for reviewing e-invoicing research, interpreting complex tax regulations, and developing effective tax technology solutions
  • Experienced professional to support the team environment through collective team topics, load balancing, and sharing/receiving constructive feedback
  • Proactively participate in a dynamic and innovative tax environment by maintaining a high level of energy while being consistently dependable, efficient, and accurate
  • Proficiency in MS office tools, browsers & subscription research services.
  • Proficiency in web based tool & web based automation (For eg : Search engine optimizations, calendly etc)


Preferred Qualification

  • Advanced tax certifications/ taxtechnology certificates
  • Experience in Robotic Process Automation
  • Strong proficiency in tax technology tools, ERP systems, tax automation platforms & data analytics tools.
  • Experience with Agile or other project management methodologies is advantageous.
  • Fluency in languages other than English
  • Familiarity with JIRA
  • Understanding of digital transmission
  • Experience in working with indirect tax technology solutions/ tax software implementations/ tax process improvement projects
  • Experience in using web based scraping/ customization tools
