Your missions

Environmental action in a climate emergency, and making our town more sustainable in a cost of living crisis; what could be more important? We are a small team, in need of accounting and financial management skills.

What difference will you make?

A Treasurer would support all our activities, by understanding and shepherding our finances, making sure we can clearly show our income expenditure on all projects, and advising on future opportunities. We need someone who finds financial management enjoyable, and who can produce Treasurers reports and accounts that ordinary people can understand. It would be great to find someone who thinks that what we are doing is important. Though some of us are retired professionals from different fields, we are ordinary people from various different walks of life, and we would like a straight forward, patient and friendly person to join our team.

What are we looking for?

Book keeping and accounting. Team working. Listening and patience. Interest in environmentally sustainable futures. Curiosity and willingness to explore new ideas. Responsible and assertive.

What will you be doing?

Our turnover is less that £5000 per year, because much of what we do costs very little. We do have some grants for restricted expenditure, and we do fundraising for some other local projects. We are very well-known in our community, and people depend on us to do the right thing, so we need a Treasurer to look after and present our finances, but our Treasurer role workload is VERY small. For several years, we had a wonderful Treasurer called John Toll, who very sadly died from Covid-19 in November 2020. We then advertised through own contacts, but no-one could help. We then paid the local accountants firm, but we can't afford to keep that up, and a kind lady called Aileen is currently standing in. We have quite a few volunteers, involved in quite a few projects. We have bi-monthly meetings for which we would like a Treasurer's report. We would like to find someone who would take an intelligent interest in all our projects, sufficient to understand any income and expenditure required, but they wouldn't necessarily have to be actively volunteering in any of them. Sometimes we need to do grant applications, and it would be nice to find a Treasurer who would lead on these, but this is not an essential requirement.
