Our IP team is renowned for its expertise, with a focus on providing exceptional legal services to clients across various industries, we are committed to safeguarding and enforcing their intellectual property rights.

We are looking for a contentious IP solicitor (1-3 years PQE) to join our team of talented professionals and make a meaningful impact in the field of IP.

About Harper James

Harper James is a national commercial law firm designed to support entrepreneurial businesses from start-up to exit. We aspire to disrupt the model for which legal services are provided to businesses. The firm’s innovative approach to delivering highly tailored and accessible legal advice is considered genuinely different to the establishment.

Harper James was founded in 2014 and continues to grow at c40%+ year on year. Today we are more than 117 people, who will support more than 2500 businesses this financial year and will turnover around £13m. We expect to double in size over the next 3 years.

What we offer

Our lawyers work on an employed and flexible basis, working remotely with access to meeting space in Birmingham, Cambridge, London, Manchester, Oxford, Southampton and Sheffield.

We work really hard to ensure our lawyers still feel part of a team so they can collaborate, share ideas and enjoy each other’s company. The remote set up allows people to work from wherever they want, to give people the flexibility they need, for whatever reason. We want people to feel that they belong to an ambitious company and that their contribution towards our growth is recognized individually and as a team.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

This opportunity is suited to an experienced IP Solicitor with a broad range of experience in contentious IP matters. We are looking for a team player who is proactive and commercial in their approach.

You will play a critical part in representing our clients in IP disputes and have a strong background in contentious IP, excellent advocacy skills, and a proven track record of achieving successful outcomes for clients. Ideally you will have experienced a variety of forms of dispute resolution.

What you will do

You will work on a broad range of contentious IP matters, from straight-forward cease and desist demands to complex patent litigation, and on devising and executing IP strategies outside the context of specific disputes and transactions.

Your client base will range from cutting edge SMEs, medium size enterprises and larger businesses across multiple industry sectors.

The bottom line

  • This is an opportunity to play a fundamental part in the growth of the contentious IP practice.
  • An environment with no politics, no bureaucracy and a great team of people who all play a fundamental part in the success and continued growth of the business.
