Job description

Who we are

Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale.

Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that’s shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, Equipment Monitoring, and Site Visibility. As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.

About the role:

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to drive the vision for Samsara’s platform security capabilities.

The Core Infrastructure team provides the technology foundations for Samsara’s cloud business, including capabilities that position us as a market leader in security and compliance. Our focus on security is critical as we help customers achieve their safety and compliance goals across Samsara’s platform offerings.

In this role, you will help identify and prioritize our opportunities to invest in differentiated security capabilities and partner closely with our engineering team to shape our security roadmap. The features you collaborate to develop and launch will have a significant impact on our customer’s experience. You will partner with stakeholders in our global team across the US and Europe.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US except the San Francisco Bay Area and NYC Metro Area.

You should apply if:

  • You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact—helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely.
  • You are the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role won’t be your last at Samsara. We set up our employees for success and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development, and countless opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper-growth environment.
  • You’re energized by our opportunity: The vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative, ambitious ideas for our customers.
  • You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together and support each other. You will be surrounded by a high-calibre team that will encourage you to do your best.

In this role, you will:

  • Own and evolve the capabilities and roadmap for foundational security capabilities for Samsara’s cloud platform.
  • Deeply understand, advocate for, and support our end customer’s security needs as they use the Samsara product portfolio.
  • Collaborate with downstream product teams and stakeholders who depend on your team’s capabilities. Manage a robust “intake” process to understand emerging security risks and opportunities.
  • Partner with our legal and compliance teams to strategically prioritize compliance certifications and customer-facing security programs.
  • Identify technology trends that create new threats and risks for cloud software.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to drive the team’s quarterly release plans and long-term roadmap.
  • Communicate across product line leadership to share your roadmap, evangelize your priorities, and seek out areas of joint innovation.
  • Partner with customer-facing teams to close strategic accounts, resolve escalations, and maintain relationships with top customers.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 5+ years of job experience, in relevant product, technical, and/or business roles.
  • Strong technical understanding, with an ability to grasp technical concepts & establish credibility with engineers.
  • A proven track record of delivering outstanding results for customers & the business, managing significant complexity and bold timelines. You also have a bias to action and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and executing product roadmap for technical areas, and using analytics/data to measure progress toward goals and make investment choices.
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be comfortable presenting to customers and internal audiences, including senior executives. Can drive cross-organizational alignment with high judgment and effectiveness.

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical field; an MBA is a plus.
  • Deep experience creating and growing products in the software security space.
  • Product management experience in the cloud infrastructure space and/or on products with a vertically integrated hardware+software stack.
  • Familiarity with B2B SaaS products and working with B2B sales teams.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and track record of strong partnerships with diverse engineering stakeholders.
  • Experience with both external and internal customers as key stakeholders to manage in roadmap planning and development.
