Job description

Job Summary/Objective

Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) and business consultant for the design, architecture, development and quality control of development and integration initiatives while connecting recommendations/output to overall outcomes and impact. Assists the ART Leadership Team with managing day-to-day work activities, and helps to provide coaching and guidance to team members through product development and integration projects. Provides support and mentorship to newly hired team members.

Key Responsibilities & Duties (essential To The Job)

  • Provides technical management consultation and support for assigned applications. Helps ART Leadership with identifying and distributing work assignments and communicating timelines.
  • Facilitates technical implementation planning with developers on the team.
  • Collaborates and communicates with cross functional teams, and works closely with the department leaders to identify gaps or barriers, and develop strategies to help the teams overcome blockers in order to continue making progress on commitments and deliverables that are on-time and within the expected scope and quality.
  • Collaborates and leads the profiling of existing applications to identify performance bottlenecks and solution implementation.
  • Coordinates performance testing to determine the scalability and stability of new and existing products.
  • Provides business leaders within the organization with technology blueprints, options, and impacts for technology and/or business challenges. Offers guidance on recommendations, options, impact, and other important information to drive key business decisions.
  • Advises technology and product teams of design, engineer, and rollout operational readiness of new products, capabilities, and features.
  • Drives technology modernization through creation of repeatable patterns, auditing technology currency for the organization, and identifying modernization opportunities in the OEC technology radar.
  • Influences code standards, review processes, and design patterns. Drives architectural standards, processes, and activities.
  • Refines requirements based on user/client needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms.
  • Supports the process of the software development life cycle (SDLC) in agile methodology by ensuring architecture is supportive of project scope and estimates in alignment of company objectives to complete in a timely, cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Researches industry best practices and trends. Explores new technologies and solutions with a hands-on approach; conducts proof-of-concept activities to assess technical solutions, and uses knowledge to help leadership with making key business decisions.
  • Partners with other groups such as infrastructure and data services to ensure solution consistency.
  • Leads technical proof-of-concept efforts on an individual or team basis; acts as lead on proof-of-concept projects.
  • Influences and assists in resolving complex technical support issues; participates on “tiger” teams to resolve the root cause of persistent issues/incidents.

Education

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required, with a focus in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline. In the absence of a degree, equivalent work experience directly related to the role's key responsibilities will be considered.

Experience, Skills And Key Competencies

At least 7 years of experience with software development, including a background in Agile and Scrum methodologies and program increment planning, experience working with modern architecture principles and design patterns, expertise in Microsoft .NET, C#, Java development, relational database design and querying concepts, experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.js, Angular, React, and experience developing Web APIs and microservice patterns.

Must also be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to making decisions and driving work forward.
  • Understanding of containerization and dynamic environment setup, docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of different technology stacks and tools (Net, Azure, Azure Devops, Javascript, Gerkin).
  • Excellent communication skills, and can effectively tailor messaging to a specific audience or call to action.
  • Able to provide guidance and coaching to team members in a positive and empowering manner.
  • Strong business acumen skills with the ability to envision and communicate a big-picture view.
  • Skilled at bringing about clarity in a complex environment or ambiguous situations.
  • Adaptable and approach to work, and can adjust to shifts in priorities as the needs of the business change.

Special Position Requirements

  • Travel for this position is required and expected to be up to 20% of work time and requires the ability to obtain/maintain a Passport for travel to international OEC locations including but not limited to Canada, Poland and India.
