National Manager, Mental Health Programs


This is a 12-month contract position starting November 2024.


Are you a Program Manager with a passion for mental health, seeking a chance to make a significant impact in a supportive and forward-thinking organization?


We’re currently looking for a Mental Health Programs Manager to join our team to cover a one-year contract. You will oversee mental health programs, and drive initiatives that enhance our programming and support for the type 1 diabetes community.

Interested? In this position, you would have the opportunity to:


  • Manage and enhance relationships with relevant stakeholders and partners.
  • Facilitate committees of knowledge opinion leaders in diabetes and mental health to support the execution of the Mental Health Strategy initiatives.
  • Ensure continued administration and evaluation of the organization’s Mental Health + Diabetes Training Program for Canadian mental health providers and the associated Directory to a high standard.
  • Oversee content and technical updates of Mental Health + Diabetes Training Program, as required.
  • Support the delivery of the organization’s second Mental Health & Type 1 Diabetes Community Grants Opportunity.
  • Liaise with Volunteer & Community Engagement team to connect the type 1 diabetes community with relevant JDRF programs to benefit mental health and wellness.
  • Liaise with Marketing & Communication team to communicate progress about the Mental Health Strategy to relevant stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the French Project Coordinator for Mental Health Programs to support Francophone constituents engaging with Mental Health initiatives.
  • Act as the central point of communication with regards to the organization’s Mental Health Strategy for both internal and external stakeholders, including the Mental Health Advisory Council.


Here’s what we’re looking for:


Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years experience working in a position relevant to diabetes, another chronic disease, mental health, and a related university degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders in order to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated project planning skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the larger mission-driven team.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills including public speaking.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office including Teams.
  • Fluency in French, both written and verbal, an asset.

  • Location: Flexible within Canada; JDRF is a remote-first organization and this position will work remotely from a home-office


Salary for the new incumbent is anticipated to be within the range of $75,000-$83,000 (based on an annual salary) commensurate with skills and experience in relation to the role requirements.
