The Opportunity:

As HKA continues to expand our presence, areas of expertise and reputation across fields and industries, we are excited to open the door for a Tax Expert to join our team of Forensic Accounting consultants! In this position you will be working closely with a dedicated Partner, to evaluate, research and deliver on our specialized client needs. This position is ideal for someone who is looking to get into Forensic Accounting as their next career step. Furthermore, this position fits well for those interested in becoming Partner in the future.


General Responsibilities

  • Manage or support client projects by collating Tax research and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data on subjects such as Apportionments, International Tax, Allocations, Tax Shelter and more.
  • Communicate with client project liaison on a consistent basis.
  • Technical writing, drafting and editing.
  • Provide support to Expert witnesses including collaboration on the production of Expert reports.
  • Assist with building complex models to analyze financial data using spreadsheets and databases.
  • Communicate with clients using varying levels of complexity to relay data, findings and suggestions and manage their expectations effectively.
  • Work within deadlines/priorities across multiple projects, delegating/collaborating with team members.
  • Foster positive internal and external relationships whilst maintaining the confidential nature of client relationships and related work products.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • 4+ years of professional experience in Federal Tax Planning, Mergers and Acquisitions, International Tax.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university. A master’s in taxation, JD, and/or LLM (with a concentration in tax) preferred; Licensed CPA, EA or JD/LLM
  • Well-rounded knowledge and hands-on experience in Domestic Tax Law, with a preference for International Tax Law knowledge a plus.
  • Exceptional research and writing abilities
  • Commitment to undertaking high-quality analysis with strong problem solving and attention to detail.
  • Technical experience in data analytics and the ability to manipulate data. Experience with SQL and/or other database management tools a plus, but not required.
  • Extensive experience managing large data sets in Microsoft Excel including familiarity with pivot tables and other intricate functionality within the tool
  • Client facing communication skills providing efficiency and clarity when interacting with a wide variety of audiences and simplifying complex topics.
