The Need

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Sr. Lead, UX & Digital to develop and execute an agile, dependable, and high-functioning digital support function within IJM’s Creative & Digital Services in-house creative agency. The ideal candidate lives and breathes digital spaces, including non-profit websites with complex information and asks. This function will springboard our UX, is skilled in wireframing and design, can inform and direct SEO strategy, and can assist with website CMS – in IJM’s case, Craft.

This role will also work closely with our IT department, which is responsible for backend and module development. The Sr. Lead, UX & Digital will be part of the larger in-house creative team and will take pride and joy in working alongside and collaborating with colleagues to fuel the mission and end slavery in our lifetime.

This is a remote role with occasional travel to our headquarters, located in the Washington, DC area. It reports to the Director, Creative & Digital services and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the United States.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management

  • Lead all support aspects of UX for IJM.org.

  • Manage editorial strategy to achieve SEO goals.

  • Lead ongoing website optimization projects.

  • Develop and design wireframes for IJM.org.

  • Lead strategy consultations for SEO, optimization and UX meetings as needed.

Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation

  • Work with internal writers to develop optimized and strategic website content.

  • Leverage digital analytics and insights to inform audience engagement.

  • Reinforce content strategy on the website and all constituent facing platforms (ie. Bizzabo, Fundraise, Donor Drive, Craft, Survey Monkey, Wistia, etc).

  • Drive consistent web site growth through the effective integration of key words and metadata, implementation of organic SEO tactics, and inclusion of relevant content.

Policies and Procedures

  • Regularly update and police digital content standards and policies within the Web Content Governance.

  • Establish and maintain website directory structures within an enterprise content management system.

  • Follow IJM’s Creative & Digital Services support model and work within these procedures.

Training and Development

  • Train any and all staff that will be stakeholders with various digital platforms.

  • Secondary administrator of the CMS, including training and granting/maintaining permissions of other users and authors.

Research and Monitoring

  • Apply usability test results and analysis of website data to make recommendations for improvement or enhancement.

  • Use different tools to monitor website activity and experience, such as HotJar, Google Analytics and Treejack.

  • Develop keyword strategies, with regular monitoring and improvements.

Documentation, Reporting & Data Management

  • Report on and analyze SEO execution and share as available.

  • Record and use analytics data to inform strategy.

  • Create and distribute regular performance analysis and reports, particularly on campaign landing pages.

General Tasks

  • Participate in IJM’s community of spiritual formation.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field.

  • 5-7 years of professional digital marketing experience.

  • 5-7 years of experience working with digital or marketing teams.

  • At least 5 years of UX and/or web strategy experience.

  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns with digital and social media components.

  • Proficient in wireframing software, such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Knowledge of SEO and Accessibility (508 Compliance).

  • Demonstrated ability to meet demanding deadlines and manage tasks in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Demonstrated capability for analysis, making data-driven decisions, and communicating results and recommendations.

  • Strong understanding of metrics, analytics, reporting tools, and A/B testing.

  • Experience with proofreading in a quick turnaround time.

  • Experience with technical troubleshooting and QA workflows.

  • Digital project management experience.

  • Technical understanding of how to optimize and integrate web, mobile, social and search media to provide the optimal UX.

  • Proven understanding of website development life cycle and taxonomies.

Technical Competencies

  • Experience with Sketch, Figma, or Creative Suite.

  • Experience with Google Analytics.

  • Experience with website behavior tools, such as Hotjar, Crazyegg or Mouseflow.

  • Experience with Craft CMS preferred.

  • Experience with Fundraise preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of CSS and HTML.
