The U-Haul International, Inc. Legal Department seeks a highly skilled Assistant General Counsel with 3 to 7 years of contract law experience who will help in the implementation and management of the company’s Contract Management System (CMS) for the U-Haul System. The qualified candidate will be integrally involved in managing the entire contract lifecycle within the CMS platform where they will be assisting in contract drafting and review, streamlining processes, maintaining accurate data, and generating insightful reports. This candidate will also be involved in communicating general legal advice to U-Haul Field personnel and senior management on a wide variety of legal issues providing clear and concise guidance. This is a fast-paced role that is only suited to a self-starter who can work independently and has the experience to quickly take ownership of complex matters.

Responsibilities:

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating of various legal agreements, including service contracts, non-disclosure agreements, purchase orders and third-party agreements executed through a CMS platform.

• Tracking all stages of the contract lifecycle, including negotiation, approval, execution, renewal and termination.

• Identifying and implementing better workflows based on CMS analytic reporting.

• Monitoring deadlines and key dates to help increase overall company efficiency and reduce costs.

• Generate intuitive reports to help identify opportunity areas.

• Collaborating and training with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient use of the CMS system and identifying areas for improvement where applicable.

• Assist in the maintenance and update of a contract databases repository.

• Provide general legal advice to U-Haul field personnel on a wide variety of legal issues

• Management of outside counsel

• Other related duties as required for assigned

Requirements:

• At least 3-7 years of contract law experience.

• JD from an ABA-accredited school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state.

• Must be in good standing in all jurisdictions where the candidate is licensed to practice law.

• Prefer legal experience in-house or with a highly regarded law firm.

• Proven experience in at least one CMS platform is preferred.

• Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive mindset.

• Must be willing to work in office

• Minimal travel required.
