Corebridge Financial Global Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Government Affairs department is comprised of attorneys and other professionals providing high quality advisory and transactional support with integrity and objectivity across all parts of the organization. The team ensures an operating environment that minimizes legal, regulatory and reputational risks and complies with all laws and regulations and Corebridge Financial policies & procedures. About the role

Corebridge Financial is seeking an Officer of State Affairs responsible for providing strategic legislative and regulatory identification, tracking and advocacy on behalf of Corebridge Financial and its operations in the North Eastern United States. This position reports to Head of State Affairs, Corebridge Financial.

This position can be open to remote work, but candidate must reside on the east coast.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manages strategic interests in assigned states through contract lobbyists, direct advocacy, testimony, use of trade groups and coalitions, and relationships with key state policymakers. Lobbies state legislators and regulators.
  • Tracks legislation and regulation.
  • Works with member state legislative teams on legislative and regulatory issues affecting the Insurance and Financial industry.
  • Prepares advocacy materials for member companies, including issue-briefs, talking points, one-pagers, comment letters, and PowerPoint presentations in coordination with other operational staff.
  • Develops and presents state testimony and attends relevant hearings.
  • Represents Corebridge Financial and the insurance financial services industry at intergovernmental organization meetings.
  • Manages intergovernmental relationship and issues.
  • Develops consensus/positions/strategy among member companies on legislative issues.
  • Works with member company representatives to formulate industry-wide state strategic plans, including industry positioning and advocacy, ally and coalition development, and grassroots activities.
  • Travel Requirements: ~30%, domestic.

What you need to know:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree (MA or JD) preferred.
  • 5+ years relevant experience in insurance and/or government affairs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to self-manage while working remotely with little oversight.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain flexible in a decision-making process.
  • Ability to develop persuasive policy content.
  • Ability to build consensus among people with diverging views.
  • Strong understanding of state regulatory process and agencies.
    Ability to understand legislative and regulatory language, how it affects the industry, and how it could/should be edited to support company and industry goals.
  • Firm understanding of the working relationship and policy issues within the Insurance and Financial Industry.
  • Ability to assemble and synthesize relevant facts and expert opinion to support policy arguments.
  • Ability to prioritize importance of policy issues to the industry.

For positions based in New York, the base salary range is $120,000-$159,200 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
