Our herbal formulas feature traditional herbs from several medicinal modalities including Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Japanese Kampo, and Western herbalism. We were founded in early 2019 by Shizu Okusa, a serial entrepreneur in the wellness industry and named E&Y’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2021. After leaving an intense finance career, she became inspired to live a more balanced lifestyle and revisit her Japanese roots and passion for herbal medicine. Shizu set out to help others regain their holistic health using traditions she grew up with and ones she learned along the way.

The role:

We are looking for a savvy and passionate candidate to assist in creating, curating, and managing content across social media platforms. This internship is perfect for someone passionate about social media, digital marketing, and content creation who wants to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. This role will report directly to the Social Media Manager.

Responsibilities:

Staying current on weekly IG Reels/TikTok video trends and quickly executing concepts relevant to the brand
Ideating, planning, shooting, and editing short-form video content for TikTok, IG Reels and YouTube Shorts. Goal of shooting 8-10 pieces of content a week.
Work closely with our founder, Shizu Okusa, to capture content in person for paid and organic usage
Attend local events and capture content when needed
Work with the marketing team to produce campaign or launch-specific content for organic and paid social
Create and test new recipe content using our herbal formulas
Support in editing videos and photos from influencers when needed
Ensure brand voice is unique to Apothékary (sass, lightheartedness, fun) and is consistent across all digital channels
Stay up to date with trends across platforms and present relevant ideas to the team
Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality with all materials and information
Take on special projects as assigned which may include research into topics of interest

Requirements

Ideal candidate:

Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (or recent graduate)
Excellent follow-through. Ability to keep the pieces moving and not let anything fall through the crack
Comfortable shooting on camera and being featured in organic and paid social ads
Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
Proficient with CapCut, Canva, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite

High energy and drive to produce videos daily
Creative, out-of-the-box thinker with an eye and passion for creating content, able to spot “content moments” and creative opportunities and execute swiftly on them
High-level understanding of social platforms and video editing
Deep understanding of TikTok and Instagram Reel platforms, best practices, trends, and know confidently how to captivate, grow and engage an audience

You consider yourself an outstanding communicator
Creative thinking with a problem-solving mindset
Meticulous attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Passion for wellness community and herbal medicine

Bonus points:

Previous experience at a high-growth, fast-paced startup.

Time and Location:

This is a part-time and remote 1099 role, however we will require this candidate to be based in New York City to attend occasional brand events. Our team primarily works off of Eastern Time between 9:00am-5:00pm. Flexibility will be allowed between those hours, but this role will work closely in collaboration with the full time team and therefore would be expected to work between those regular daytime hours.

This position is available to start immediately. Note that job responsibilities may change based on the company’s evolving needs.
