Plains All American is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). We own an extensive network of pipeline transportation, terminalling, storage and gathering assets in key crude oil and NGL producing basins and transportation corridors and at major market hubs in the United States and Canada. On average, Plains handles more than 6 million barrels per day of crude oil and NGL in its Transportation segment. The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

The selected candidate will be eligible for company benefits including Medical/Dental/Vision, vacation time off, and free parking. Additionally, this position comes with the option of a hybrid work schedule, combining working in our Houston office with working remotely.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Advise employees and leaders on all company Leave of Absence (LOA) procedures & policies, including Short Term Disability (STD), Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Long Term Disability (LTD), Parental Leave, Military Leave, Personal Leave, and Extended Illness Bank (EIB) via email, phone, virtual meetings, in-person meetings, and chat

  • Coordinate with the Disability Claims Administrator on all STD, FMLA, LTD, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) claims to ensure they are processed accurately and timely

  • Ensure all Leaves are entered in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) accurately and timely

  • Coordinate with Payroll team on paid company leaves, including Benefit premium payments

  • Coordinate with Safety team on Worker’s Compensation claims

  • Work with Human Resources (HR) and Legal teams on complex leave and accommodation claims

  • Assist with Wellbeing Program planning, communication, and execution

  • Update and maintain Leave information on the company’s intranet and HRIS sites

  • Assist with advising employees on the group Benefit plans, including Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), Medical, Prescription, Dental, Vision, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), 401(k), and other Benefit plans

  • Assist with advising employees on Benefit related company policies and procedures including Paid Time Off (PTO) plans, and COBRA, Medicare, and other related programs

  • Assist with employee Benefit communications and notices, Benefit auditing, and HRIS reporting

  • Assist with Open Enrollment planning, communication, execution, and auditing

  • Assist with Affordable Care Act (ACA) auditing and reporting

  • Education Assistance Processing

  • Other Benefit/Leave duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of the interaction between STD, FMLA, ADA, USERRA, LTD, Worker’s Compensation, PWFA, and company leave policies

  • Knowledge of administration of group Benefit plans, including Section 125 Cafeteria plans, and Wellbeing programs

  • Knowledge of employment and Benefit laws and regulations, including HIPAA, COBRA, PPACA, and ERISA

  • Knowledge of government agencies, including the DOL and EEOC, along with current leave and accommodation related court cases

  • Knowledge of HRIS; Workday experience a plus

  • Knowledge of HR practices and procedures

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and/or assignments concurrently

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees, vendors, brokers, and other job-related contacts

  • Strong initiative with the ability to work independently

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, and familiarity with Access

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • College Degree

  • At least two (2) or more years of professional experience working in HR with a background in Leave and Benefits; prior work experience in the energy sector a plus

  • Professional HR or Benefit certifications a plus

  • Wellbeing Program experience a plus

  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks

  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.
