GEICO is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our Testing Frameworks and Performance Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of building and maintaining performance testing tools, frameworks, and analytics for benchmarking and stress testing applications.
The ideal candidate has keen interest in and exposure to nuances of performance testing. You are able to build the load testing harness using tools such as JMeter, K6, Locust, provision infrastructure using K8, public cloud, and can engage with engineering teams to understand and dig into performance bottlenecks in the client, server, and database layers.
Position Responsibilities
· Engage with application, SRE, and business teams to understand performance requirements
· Build the framework, tooling, and infrastructure to generate appropriate levels of loads on applications under test
· Build and design reporting and analytics to ingest load and benchmarking data
· Enable application teams to leverage performance engineering platform to build and run their own tests as part of their CICD workflows
· Mentor junior engineers to grow into impactful engineers
Qualifications
· Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· 5+ years of experience in performance/load testing using tools such as K6, JMeter, Locust
· Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go, Node, Java, Python.
· Strong proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting.
· Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
Education
· Bachelor's degree or master's degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent experience
Annual Salary
$90,000.00 - $260,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
