The Role

Reporting to the founder and CEO of Blexr, this role is an amazing opportunity to lead and transform an engineering and IT function in an energetic company aiming to build a small portfolio of industry-leading products. At Blexr, we are looking to closely align our technology function with our product and marketing-driven products, following lean, agile, and pragmatic principles.

This role leads our engineering and IT chapters, focusing on enabling our teams to build industry-leading products that help users make better and more informed online decisions. Overseeing our engineering and IT functions, you oversee a team of ~ 16 people and manage outsourced relationships and projects. Roles in the team consist of principal engineers, engineering leads to junior engineers, and QA.

As this role also forms part of the Blexr leadership team, you will have the chance to use your peer collaboration and execution skills and impact strategic, commercial, and business-focused initiatives.

🌍 This role is remote working style from one of our entity locations in the UK or Portugal.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Leadership

• Define and drive the technology and IT strategy and vision for the organisation, focusing on CMS.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the organisation remains at the forefront of technological innovation.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Collaborate with the development team to ensure the successful implementation of CMS solutions.
• Liaise with external agencies to manage outsourced projects and ensure they align with the organisation's technology standards.

Project Management

• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of CMS projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Manage the project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Implement and manage project tracking tools and methodologies to ensure transparency and accountability.

Team Leadership and Development

• Lead and mentor the technology team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members, helping them to develop their skills and advance their careers.
• Recruit and retain top technical talent to build a high-performing technology team.

Quality Assurance and Performance Optimisation

• Establish and enforce quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality CMS solutions.
• Monitor and optimise the performance of CMS solutions, identifying and resolving any issues that arise.
• Implement best practices for code review, testing, and deployment to ensure the reliability and stability of CMS systems.

Security and Compliance

• Ensure CMS solutions comply with relevant security standards and regulations.
• Implement security best practices to protect the organisation’s data and systems from threats.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a technology leader.
• Extensive experience with CMS platforms (e.g., Storyblok, WordPress).
• Strong understanding of web development technologies (e.g., JavaScript, RESTful APIs).
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Cloudflare).
• Excellent project management skills, with experience managing complex technology projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, technical teams, and external partners.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and analytically.
