Your missions

The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Transcribing trainees patient encounter dictations verbatim and return to his/her respective trainer for inspection/review;  
  • Purposefully questioning trainees dictations, facilitating the understanding of the correction process;
  • Ensuring all trainees understand the different work types, how to use the … and …. Screens; and the significance of the dictation "queues/lists" and the doc.unlock procedures;
  • Providing comments to the trainers regarding lines per chart if they are not in expected range and send edited version of the dictations to show how they could be met without losing pertinent documentation;
  • Assisting all trainers with dictation behavior modification as needed in order to facilitate meeting company lines per chart goals, CDI initiatives and E&M guideline requirements;
  • Offering suggestions for meeting E&M guidelines for coded levels of service when necessary;
  • If needed, transcribing re-dictations and submit back to trainers for review;
  • Uploading dictation into the MR once the trainer is satisfied that all requirements are being met;
  • Performing quality assurance reviews on outsourced work in between training dates and times.



Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • High school diploma (required);
  • CPC certification required with emphasis on E&M auditing (preferred);
  • Formal training through an accredited transcription program (preferred);
  • Five or more years of experience as a medical transcriptionist in a hospital, urgent care facility or medical specialty;
  • Seasoned knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, signs and symptoms, medications and laboratory values, etc;
  • In depth or broad knowledge of a specialty or specialties as appropriate;
  • Knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices;
  • Excellent skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation and style;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Knowledge of basic coding and CDI principles;
  • Ability to us an extensive array of professional reference materials;
  • Ability to operate a PC and transcription equipment, and other equipment as specified;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision;
  • Proficiency in a variety of Microsoft applications and operating software products and transcription specific software products;
  • Ability to work under pressure with time constraints;
  • Ability to concentrate;
  • Excellent listening skills;
  • Excellent eye, hand, and auditory coordination;
  • Ability to understand and apply relevant legal concepts (e.g., confidentiality);
  • Ability to sit for extensive periods of time;
  • Ability to lift moderately heavy items 20-40 lbs.
