Your missions

Overview:

Join AIR as a Research Associate with our Health Division to support the implementation and evaluation of healthcare service delivery and payment models. Research Associates work on a range of activities including health program implementation, program evaluation, technical assistance, and business proposals and benefit from various mentoring and learning opportunities. The selected candidate will work on projects funded by Federal Agencies such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and state and local governments. The selected candidate will provide policy research and operations support covering topics such as Medicare, Medicaid, other public health insurance programs, and innovative healthcare delivery and payment models.

 

Our Health team works collaboratively to unravel the intertwined challenges of health care quality, costs, and access. Our team of experts – nurses, physicians, psychologists, economists, sociologists, data scientists, and public health experts – advance evidence and save lives by leading rigorous research and evaluation; results-driven technical assistance and training; and leading-edge data science and technology tools.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Provide analytic and operational support for the implementation, monitoring or evaluation of innovative healthcare service delivery and payment models.
  • Apply research methods and techniques to manage and analyze qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Write customized and presentation-quality reports and operating procedures for a variety of audiences.
  • Provide custom technical assistance on complex policies to different audiences.
  • Help with administrative and project management tasks.
  • Write, compile, and edit assigned portions of proposals.
  • Review work products to ensure quality and consistency of content.
  • Foster an environment that embraces diverse perspectives, abilities, racial/ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, gender identities and expressions, educational experiences, and life stories. 
Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Public Health, Epidemiology, or related social science field required OR Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proposal or report preparation experience.
  • Experience with qualitative or quantitative research methods. 
  • Experience collecting and analyzing information from doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers participating in healthcare programs or demonstrations.
  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, or healthcare service delivery and payment models is preferred but not required.
  • Experience and knowledge of data analysis and data management techniques using R, Python, SAS, SQL, SPSS, STATA, Access, Excel, and/or other databases is preferred but not required.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Analytical thinking, data interpretation, and quality assurance
  • Clear written communication and ability to write for different purposes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels and with diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to take initiative, use available resources, and work independently or as a team.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR’s Total Rewards Program, is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated salary of $32.00/hr. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
