Senior Cost Engineer (all genders)

About the role 

As a Senior Cost Engineer specializing in our Industrialized Building System, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial success of our product and performance of our complete end to end Value Chain. You will leverage your expertise in cost estimation, analysis, and control to optimize resource allocation, minimize risks, and drive profitability throughout the product lifecycle. 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Develop detailed cost estimates for series building components and systems, incorporating material, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses. Create comprehensive ‘design to cost’ criteria and monitor spending against established cost targets. 
• Cost Analysis and Control: Analyze series costs and identify potential areas for optimization. Implement effective cost control measures to ensure projects remain within budget. Track and report on cost variances, providing insights to all stakeholders. 
• Design to Cost & Purchasing: Collaborate with Purchasing & Finance teams to find competitive costs for materials, equipment, and services.  
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential cost risks associated with series building products. Develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize financial exposure and ensure product success on the market. 
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize data analysis tools to track cost potentials, identify trends, and forecast future cost reduction. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for stakeholders. 
• Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects, and production managers, to ensure cost considerations are integrated into series development. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on series costs and financial performance. 

About you

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or production engineering, or a related field 
• 5+ years of experience in cost engineering, preferably in the industrial manufacturing industries 
• Building Construction knowledge is advantageous but not required 
• Strong understanding of process creation, data products and systems 
• Expertise in cost estimation, analysis, and control methodologies 
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
• Fluent English, B2 German is preferred but not essential.
