Your missions

About Us

Source Legal is an exciting, rapidly growing business that offers commercial and employment legal services in Australia and New Zealand. Our unique model provides in-house style legal support to SMEs, large corporates, university and government clients.

We’ve blended the best parts of private practice and in-house, and broken the mould in providing premium legal services.

Our roles can be performed remotely, from our offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Auckland, or a combination of both. We walk the talk when it comes to flexibility – in our most recent engagement survey, 100% of our lawyers told us that they are genuinely supported to make use of our flexible working arrangements. All our lawyers are employees (not contractors).

At Source we are entirely values driven. We never bill by the hour and don't require our lawyers to keep track of their hours. Our focus is on client experience and giving our clients outstanding legal support.

The role

We are looking for a high-performing employment lawyer who is commercially savvy, highly responsive and who is comfortable providing clear and decisive legal advice. You will be given the opportunity to work in a diverse in-house style role, across sectors and clients of various sizes, with no billable hour or timesheet requirements.

This role can be performed remotely, from our offices in Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, or a combination of both.

We’re Looking For Someone

  • With solid New Zealand employment law experience advising private sector and government clients. We’re particularly interested in hearing from candidates who, in addition to their New Zealand employment law experience, also have Australian employment and/or Australian/New Zealand commercial law experience.
  • With 5+ years’ post admission experience gained in private practice, government and/or in-house roles.
  • Who has a strong entrepreneurial and innovative mind-set, and outstanding client management skills.
  • Ideally, with a transportable client base and a proven track-record in business development.
  • Who is commercially-minded and comfortable giving pragmatic, in-house style advice and making decisions – not sitting on the fence.
  • Who is a self-starter, can work quickly, be adaptable, communicate clearly and is passionate about client experience.

What’s In It For You

  • Being mentored and growing your skills in a supportive and high-performing team environment, with access to quality work, great clients and a wide-range of professional development opportunities.
  • A fun and collaborative team environment with regular social events, training and team retreats.
  • A varied and exciting work environment, as well as complete freedom to choose how, where and when to work.
  • Being at the forefront of developing new ways of providing legal services.
  • Interesting and varied work across many different industries.
  • No time recording.
  • Access to state-of-the-art legal business systems, software, technology and support services (like word processing, document design and paralegals).
  • People experience programs like the Da Vinci Development Program (get an extra weeks’ leave after completing a personal development activity) and the Adventure Club (last year’s trips were to Queenstown or Cairns).
  • Birthday leave.
