Your missions

Summary/Objective

The Communications Copywriter creates marketing and advertising copy to promote the products and services for PayrollOrg (PAYO) and affiliated companies across a wide range of print, email, and web campaigns.  The Communications Copywriter ensures all copy meets the creative vision, brand, and standards of quality.  The successful candidate is a self-motivated individual with the aptitude to excel in a results-oriented environment.

 

Essential Functions

  • Researches, writes, and edits original copy for print, email, and web campaigns 
  • Reviews and proofreads copy to detect and correct spelling, publication, hyperlink destinations, syntax errors, and department style; considers copyright laws such as registered and trademarked symbols, country of origin, and material construction.
  • Designs and creates HTMLs.
  • Coordinates and tracks materials through various stages of completion, including layout, necessary distribution of layout drafts, incorporation of subsequent edits changes, and final submission and approval.
  • Using internal resources, collects relevant demographics, facts, and materials relevant to promoted events.
  • Collects and analyzes printed and online materials for the purpose of providing recommendations including, but not limited to accurate research documentation.
  • Develops and maintains a library of current reference materials, quotes, and archived work in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge on professional and industry trends and best practices. 

 

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Solid knowledge of marketing audience targeting principles.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Dreamweaver.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in the use of Photoshop and HubSpot.
  • Ability to conduct internet research. 
  • Ability to design and modify HTML templates. 
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

 

Required Education and Experience                                                   

  • Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or English. Degree may be replaced with a High School Diploma and one year of equivalent work experience. 
  • Background in developing, writing, and editing direct marketing, advertising, and/or promotional copy.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or English. 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 

  • Hubspot Certified a plus.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities      

  • This position has no direct reports

 

Internal and External Interfaces

  • Internal:  Key stakeholders of the company with regular interaction with Accounting, Art, Certification, Customer Service, Editorial, Education, Government Relations, Meeting Planning, Speaker Administration, and Vendor Relations. 
  • External: Members.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

 

Requires prolonged sitting, walking, and standing depending on the job tasks with bending, stooping, pulling, pushing, crouching, and stretching, and lifting to 20 lbs. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other technology equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Prolonged exposure to computer monitors. Office work is performed in a normal office environment.
