Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead our Access to Health Data engineering team. The ATHD team is responsible for ensuring that our users can view and interact with their healthcare data on mobile apps and websites. As the Director of Engineering, you will ensure the success of your team, collaborate with peers and other departments, and drive the delivery of valuable solutions to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the engineering team
  • Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary tools, resources, and training to succeed.
  • Communicating technical progress and challenges to executive leadership teams, ensuring that they are informed and can make informed decisions.
  • Liaising with outside vendors and suppliers, ensuring that all necessary resources are available when needed.
  • Lead with resilience and adaptability, navigating uncertainty and ambiguity to drive success.
  • Experience and excitement in working at a fast paced, scaling organization and solving complex problems.


Technical Oversight:

  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of healthcare technology solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in software development, including code quality, testing, and documentation.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
  • Develop strategies and new initiatives with their team to advance on an organizational and technical level for both the team and product.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with peers and leaders in other departments to align engineering efforts with company goals.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between engineering and other teams. Provide a consistent/successful interface between Engineering Development and Product Management.
  • Advocate for the engineering team and ensure their contributions are recognized and valued.


Customer Focus:

  • Ensure engineering solutions deliver tangible value to customers, lead with a consumer-obsessed approach to engineering of our product .
  • Partner with Client Success and Commercialization to collect and analyze customer feedback to inform product improvements.
  • Passionate about improving our healthcare system and disruptive innovation for our customers
  • Promote a solution-centric mindset within the engineering team.


Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience with web/mobile technologies such as React and experience in microservices architecture is required
  • Experience with agile methodologies is required.
  • Experience working with other teams to deliver end to end solutions to customers is required
  • Experience in healthcare technology is preferred.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, organized, and self-sufficient
  • Strong communication skills to drive cross-functional buy-in and alignment
  • Exceptional decision-making and prioritization skills
  • Self-starter and ownership attitude
  • Work quickly without sacrificing quality to find creative solutions


The target salary range for this position is $160,000 - $225,000 and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options, benefits, and incentive pay for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
