Job Description

The Instructional Designer is responsible for the development of sales, product and product technical training materials for both internal and external audiences. The Designer works closely with product management, R&D, marketing, and sales teams to determine requirements and gather content, and develops presentations, hands-on exercises and other materials for in-person, webinar, and LMS-based training for plumbers, distributors, and other audiences.

This position will serve our Water Heater Division, located in Roswell, GA or Lawnside, NJ or the Philly metropolitan area. You can reside any of these locations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with sales, product management and engineering teams to deeply understand new product developments.
  • Partner with sales, customer experience, product, and marketing teams to identify training needs for both new and existing products.
  • Develop comprehensive training content to support product launches and ongoing product education, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and product messaging.
  • Create engaging training materials including presentations, video modules, and hands-on exercises for various training platforms such as in-person sessions, webinars, and LMS-based training.
  • Conduct training sessions as required, including leading webinar-based training and supporting in-person training efforts.
  • Liaise with external agencies and partners to develop and deliver high-quality training content.
  • Collaborate with customer call centers, including tech support and order centers, to address training needs and ensure consistent messaging.
  • Be prepared for periodic travel as needed to support training initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5 Years Business, Training, Content Developing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, or Training related field or Equivalent Experience.
  • Proven experience in instructional design and e-learning development
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and educational technologies.
  • Proficiency in authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar software.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and knowledge of SCORM standards is a plus.

  • Previous experience in customer-facing training, particularly within the water heating or HVAC industries.
  • Deep product knowledge, specifically in water heaters, HVAC systems, troubleshooting.
  • Relevant certifications and a commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of training.
