Overview

BigBear.ai is seeking a Systems Engineer Lead to support the development of the DARTMOUTH product and ancillary business opportunities.

This is a BBAI priority task and immediately available.

The position is based in the US and will work closely with UK and US team members

DARTMOUTH is a transformative AI product that will provide an exciting step change for Airport providers and regulators in airport security scanning with benefits to security levels, operational efficiency and passenger experience. Development of the product is dynamic as BigBear.ai seeks to disrupt the market with leading edge technology.

The core product provides threat detection based on advanced object identification AI within a decision support tool that enhances security in response to threats.

The technology has much wider utility within the aviation sector and beyond. This role will be critical in ensuring those wider opportunities are exploited.

What You Will Do

  • Within the technical team:
    • DARTMOUTH Product. Support the development of the DARTMOUTH product to regulatory and commercially competitive standards. Component areas of development include threat detection model; object rendering for model identification; object location in 3D space; interoperability with OEM security scanners; decision support tool functions; User Interface; data analytics; system optimization to meet and improve upon operational process time parameters; compliance with security standards.
    • Ancillary Products. Lead on wider exploitation of the core product - specifically aligning the product to the large 2D scanner market and developing various bespoke model configurations that can support hold baggage security screening.
What You Need To Have

Within the technical team:

Support the development of the DARTMOUTH product to regulatory and commercially competitive standards. Component areas of development include threat detection models; object rendering for model identification; object location in 3D space; interoperability with OEM security scanners; decision support tool functions; User Interface; data analytics; system optimization to meet and improve upon operational process time parameters; compliance with security standards.

Ancillary Products. Lead on wider exploitation of the core product - specifically aligning the product to the large 2D scanner market and developing various bespoke model configurations that can support hold baggage security screening.

  • Must have at least 10 to 15 years of experience as a Software Developer, Senior Developer or Tech Lead
  • Ideally as part of smaller teams where more responsibility is given and required to deliver against limited requirements
  • Motivated, disciplined, able to work in pairs or individually as necessary

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Programming, Engineering or similar; equivalent experience gained through other further study or qualifications will be considered
  • The ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with team members
  • A knack for troubleshooting complex issues and developing innovative solutions
  • Knowledge of Agile and Scrum practices can be beneficial, especially in dynamic development environments
  • Familiarity with the specific industry in which the company operates, such as aviation, healthcare, or finance, can provide valuable context and insights
