About the Role:
We are seeking an intellectually curious and passionate Senior Security Architect & Systems Engineer with a deep understanding of technology and domain-specific expertise in railroad operations and GIS systems. This role is integral to our team, where you'll be responsible for ensuring the security and efficiency of our platforms while contributing to the development of innovative solutions in a dynamic environment.

Utilize your analytical skills to collect and effectively analyze data to inform decision-making and improve system performance.

Exhibit excellent planning, analytical, and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Requirements
Technical Skills:
Platforms & Systems: Possess basic knowledge of our platforms, including EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, CloudWatch, Docker, ActiveMQ, RDS/Postgres, Firebase, and Sentry.
Programming Languages: Proficient in Java, Kotlin, and SQL. Knowledge of React, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript is a plus, particularly for frontend development.
Mobile Development: Familiarity with React Native and Kotlin for mobile app development is desired but not required.
SaaS Providers: Understanding of SaaS tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Sentry, Intercom, Airtable, and Expo is beneficial.
Domain Knowledge:
Railroad Operations: Prior experience and working knowledge of railroad operations are essential.
GIS & Location-Based Systems: Experience with GIS or location-based data and systems, including Mapbox and ESRI, is highly desirable.
Security Architecture & Engineering:
- Design, implement, and maintain security architectures to protect our systems and data.
- Lead security engineering efforts to enhance the resilience and safety of our platforms.
- Collaborate with the development and operations teams to ensure best practices in security are integrated throughout the system lifecycle.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. Equivalent experience and education may be considered in lieu of a degree, subject to approval.
Professional Experience:
Proven experience in designing customer-facing applications, with a track record of running projects and writing technical documents, including scopes of work, software requirements, and estimates.
