We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Legal and General Counsel to join our team on a part-time basis. You will play a crucial role in providing day-to-day legal oversight and strategic leadership as we work towards our mission of delivering top-tier streaming entertainment globally. This position is ideal for a proactive lawyer with experience in the entertainment, gaming, or streaming industries.

Responsibilities
  • Legal Advisory: Provide legal counsel to senior management on a variety of issues, including licensing, compliance, corporate governance, and regulatory matters across both regulated and unregulated markets.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Develop and nurture strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including regulators, industry associations, and legal counsel.
  • Contract Management: Review and negotiate critical agreements such as sponsorships, vendor contracts, customer agreements, licensing, investor term sheets, and shareholder agreements to ensure legal compliance and safeguard company interests.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess potential legal and compliance risks related to the company’s operations, products, and services, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Policy Development: Create and implement legal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Litigation Management: Oversee litigation and other legal proceedings, working with external counsel to develop strategies and manage legal expenses.
  • Compliance Support: Support departments like marketing, finance, tax, and operations to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory Updates: Stay informed on changes in laws and regulations impacting the online gaming, entertainment, and streaming industries, and advise senior management on their implications.
  • Training: Provide training to employees to ensure they understand their legal and compliance obligations.
  • Team Management: As the company grows, manage a legal and compliance team to support new entities and expanded operations.
Your Skills and Experience
Essential:
  • Master's degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bar admission in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, including at least 5 years in the online gaming, entertainment or streaming industry.
  • Expertise in GDPR, Intellectual Property, Trademark regulations, and other relevant legal areas.
  • Strong understanding of laws and regulations governing online entertainment, gaming, and streaming.
  • Experience in managing legal and compliance functions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Excel and PowerPoint.
Desirable:
  • Experience with data privacy legislation.
  • Knowledge of Intellectual Property law.
  • Experience in handling legal disputes.
  • Familiarity with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
