Job description

Be a Part of our Team!

Join a working family that is dedicated to the mission of the work we do!

Teaching Strategies is an innovative edtech organization focused on connecting teachers, children, and families. As front runners in the early childhood education market, we build dynamic, top-quality digital products that integrate all of the essential elements of a high-quality solution: curriculum, assessment, professional development, and family engagement. We are building a team of results-oriented individuals who will thrive in a collaborative, work-hard/play-hard culture. We pride ourselves on the impact we have on the early childhood field through supporting teachers who are doing the most important work there is, teaching children to become creative, confident thinkers.

Position Overview

Based anywhere in the U.S., the Director of Product Management, Mobile will be an integral member of the Product team and a key driver of Teaching Strategies' continued evolution as a digital SaaS company. You will be responsible for leading the strategy, product planning, and overall success of our portfolio of mobile apps. This includes mobile apps that support teachers and coaches with essential tasks in the classroom and apps that allow families to stay connected with educators and keep up to date on their child's progress.

As the Director of Product Management, Mobile you will be responsible for working in close cooperation with the VP of Product Management in setting the company's mobile strategy, and then driving execution against the roadmap. You will also partner closely with other product managers, scrum masters, developers, and UX/UI designers to drive the development, testing, rollout and evolution of critical mobile tools that customers love. This is both a strategic and tactical hands-on Product Manager role and you can expect to engage directly in roadmap planning, prioritizing bugs, creating tickets, and everything in-between.

Success in this role will require you to have a bias for action, sound judgment to make high-quality decisions quickly, and a natural ability to build alignment as you drive your team and ideas forward using data-driven analysis, logic, research, and strong problem solving as your tools of the trade.

Specific Roles & Responsibilities

  • Be an outcome-driven product leader for one or more agile scrum teams in the creation and delivery of our mobile app solutions.
  • Drive roadmap clarity, requirements, and tactical prioritization in partnership with product leadership and team members from UI/UX, engineering, QA, internal SMEs/stakeholders, and customers to create solutions to meaningful problems.
  • Be able to drive clear decisions and actions, leading cross-matrixed engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Build alignment on scope and delivery of product vision and solution designs with technology counterparts in engineering, QA, and program management.
  • Engage in customer research and discovery to validate new product and feature concepts and maintain strong empathy for customer and end-user jobs-to-be-done.
  • Stay abreast of evolving market and customer needs to guide product strategy and roadmap decisions.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, QA, and DevOps to build the context and confidence to prioritize user stories, bugs, security issues, tech debt, and other key items.
  • Attend agile scrum ceremonies representing the voice of the customer as the lead Product Manager for the Mobile team.
  • Assist Marketing, Customer Support, Partner Success and the Professional Development team with translating technical details for tech and non-tech audiences (e.g., release notes, KB updates, training, etc.).
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Sales, and Partner Success teams to effectively launch new products and features to market.
  • Manage and coach a small team of Product Managers/Associate Product Managers.
  • Occasional domestic travel required for in-person team, department, and company meetings.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience as a Product Leader with a strong and consistent track-record of launching high-quality software products and features that customers love.
  • 8+ years of experience successfully leading large, cross-functional teams as a Product Manager in an agile / scrum development environment.
  • Experience working side-by-side with software developers, making sound prioritization decisions, and creating reliable pathways to determine the efficacy of your solutions.
  • Exemplary communication skills with technical audiences, customers and users, and executives.
  • Proven ability to step back and see the whole ecosystem and provide solutions that impact the entire user flow, not only discrete features.
  • Experience working with iOS and Android mobile apps in general, or with Early Childhood Education (ECE) apps in particular is a plus.
