Accounting Manager – Virtual/Remote Position

Position Overview

Evernest is currently seeking an Accounting Manager for the Corporate Accounting Team. This position will report directly to the Corporate Controller and manage a few direct reports while leading, owning and improving several key workflows of the monthly close function.

The Accounting Manager role demands a strategic thinker who can oversee the month-end close processes, ensure accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP, and manage complex accounting projects independently. This role will also create, maintain, and improve documentation for each of their managed functions.

This position oversees the leading, management and development of Senior & Staff level team members so supervisory experience is a plus. The Accounting Manager will also be an active participant in the weekly and quarterly strategic planning to set vision and direction for the department and collaboration with other accounting team members will be critical. The position will include a mix of strategic and technical work and involves a lot of collaboration with the accounting & operations team at the company. The role requires strong leadership and management skills, strong general ledger accounting knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to motivate a small team around tactical objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide managerial review to a team of Senior and Staff Accountants
  • Perform monthly close activities to include the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and month over month variance analysis
  • Own the development, maintenance and execution of weekly and monthly key accounting workflows
  • Participate in weekly team objective meetings and quarterly strategic meetings
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve operational efficiency/communication
  • Support accounting team with problem solving and handling of escalated issues
  • Coordinate and manage external audits
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant or advance degree in accounting preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in a supervisory accounting role
  • 6+ years of general ledger accounting experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge and experience working with accounting software, Sage Intacct and FloQast highly desired
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated with the ability to lead by example, work independently and lead an effective team
  • Strong leadership/management abilities to lead, motivate and drive team to deliver high-impact results
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Reliable internet access
