Overview:

The Army Training Support Center (ATSC) is located at Fort Eustis, Virginia and responsible for managing the Army Training Support Enterprise (TSE) providing oversight for many programs that enable the development, delivery, and sustainment of Training and Education (T&E) support capabilities worldwide.  By Light is looking for candidates to provide Automation Technical Support (ATS) for mission related network components, computers, Software (SW), Video Teleconferencing (VTC) equipment, projectors, wiring, network equipment/SW, switches, Configuration Management (CM), servers, virtual environments and infrastructure, applications, and associated communications equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Support Trouble Calls by responding within 30 minutes for Tier II/III service tickets when the network, mission production application, or server nodes/equipment is inoperable and within 1 hour for other problems.
  • Responsible for managing and supporting the virtual desktop environment.
  • Performs the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of VDI systems to ensure a stable and efficient virtual workspace for users.
  • Install, configure, and maintain VDI environments, including servers, storage, and virtual desktops.
  • Configure, manage, and maintain SAN infrastructure, including storage arrays, fabric switches, and related components
  • Provide technical support to end-users experiencing VDI-related issues, ensuring quick resolution of problems.
  • Allocate and manage storage resources based on business requirements, ensuring optimal performance and utilization.
  • Monitor the performance and health of VDI systems, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
  • Apply updates, patches, and configuration changes to ensure the VDI environment is secure and up to date.
  • Implement and enforce security policies within the VDI environment, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect data stored within the SAN, including encryption, access controls, and compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Monitor resource utilization and plan for future growth to maintain optimal performance of the VDI environment.
  • Monitor and analyze SAN performance, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement to ensure optimal data access and storage efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of the VDI environment, including configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage backup and recovery processes for virtual desktops and associated data to ensure business continuity.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to the SAN environment, including hardware failures, connectivity issues, and performance degradation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of the SAN environment, including configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage firmware and software updates for SAN devices to ensure the environment remains up-to-date and secure.
  • Work closely with other IT teams, including networking, storage, and security teams, to ensure the VDI environment integrates smoothly with other infrastructure components.
  • Liaise with VDI software and hardware vendors for support, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Stay up to date with the latest VDI technologies and best practices, recommending improvements to optimize the virtual desktop experience.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience executing IT service and infrastructure support.
  • Baseline Certifications: Security+ (Upon Contract Start)
  • Computing Environment Certifications: VMware Certified Professional and Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Proven experience in administering VDI environments, such as VMware Horizon, Citrix XenDesktop, or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • Experience with hypervisors (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V).
  • Experience with network infrastructure related to VDI environments.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies and concepts.
  • Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) for automation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
  • Supported the U.S. Army or other DoD/Federal Agency.
  • Has the communication skills to effectively interface with senior military officials, managers, and subordinates.
Special Requirements/Security Clearance:
  • Secret Security Clearance
