Job description

Spotify’s Global Communications team is seeking an Associate Director of Corporate Communications based in Stockholm. This pivotal role will support the central team in safeguarding and enhancing Spotify’s brand image in Sweden, Europe, and globally. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in corporate communications, along with well-established connections with key European media, influencers, and decision-makers. This role is instrumental in driving Spotify’s corporate narratives on diverse topics, from innovation and support for artists to various business initiatives.

The Associate Director will also support local market teams in handling sensitive issues and managing narratives as needed. This role involves close collaboration with senior leaders across the organization. You will work with senior management and key partners across different time zones to develop and implement strategic, integrated communications plans and narratives, utilizing a mix of earned, owned, paid, and shared channels. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in global tech companies, be a self-starter, work autonomously, and bring a creative and innovative approach. This position reports to Spotify’s Co-Head of Global Communications.

What You'll Do
  • Strategically plan and implement tactics across media types and channels to elevate our policy and corporate stories
  • Propose and develop media and public affairs plans designed to achieve our corporate communications strategy
  • Plan and implement press gatherings and numerous other company events 
  • Monitor media, social media, and public perception across relevant channels 
  • Build and maintain strong relations with key media and influencers in order to drive communication objectives
  • Support Government Affairs with relationship building of key Swedish policy influencers and work to further underscore Spotify's role as one of the most prominent Swedish success stories
  • Proactively identify issues that are critical to Spotify’s business operations, brand and reputation
  • Reactively manage time-sensitive and/or risky situations and prepare mitigation and response plans
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with several teams across the company at varying levels and across time zones globally
  • Work with and on behalf of C-Suite executives to proactively tell Spotify’s story in Sweden, advising company leadership on issues related to public perception of, expectations from and reaction to company activities

  • Who You Are
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, either in-house or at an agency
  • Experience working in the tech/entertainment industry is preferred
  • Excellent storyteller with strong interpersonal skills
  • Extensive media relations experience with key pan-European corporate/tech/business journalists
  • Exceptional writing, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and under pressure, without sacrificing attention to detail
  • Self-motivated independent worker with a hands-on demeanor who can prioritize
  • Collaborative individual who enjoys a fun and energetic workplace
  • Superb organizational skills including project management and agency management
  • Established experience managing multi-layered sensitive/crisis issues across various time zones and leading the response
  • Comfortable working as part of a globally distributed team
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Fluency in English and Swedish
