Royal IHC is currently recruiting a Team Leader Engineering.  

 

Your key responsibilities as Team Leader Engineering: 

 As Team Leader Engineering (TLE) you are responsible for the engineering work package of a shipbuilding project. Externally this role is sometimes also referred to as Engineering Project Manager / Project Manager Engineering (EPM / PME). The TLE is part of the Project Management Team (PMT) and reports (operationally) to the Project Manager (PM). In the line organization, the TLEs report (functionally) to the Manager Engineering (ME). 

You ensure that the engineering is carried out within the agreed (OSBIT) frameworks. You lead the engineering project team (lead engineers + discipline engineers) and are the connecting (engineering) link with both internal (e.g. Design & Estimation, Supply Chain Management, Production) and external stakeholders: Client, Class, Yard, Suppliers / Subcontractors. 

Normally the project execution phase involves carrying out both Basic Engineering (BE) and Detail Engineering (DE). The Functional Discipline Engineering (FDE) provides the required engineering capacity. In most cases, engineering is done entirely in-house (NL + HR), but external parties can also be involved. 

The (newbuild) projects are supplied by the various Product Market Groups (PMGs), which results in a variety of products. Products can be realized at Royal IHC yards (NL) as well as abroad, making multiple scenarios possible. 

 

To be successful in this position you: 

We are looking for a real team builder, someone who is able to lead an engineering team. It is certainly not just about having technical (shipbuilding) knowledge: mastering project management / soft skills is just as important. 

You have at least completed a higher professional (HBO) / university (WO) education in technology. In principle we are looking for someone with relevant work experience. We could consider a development program for someone with less experience. 

Considering the responsibilities, a TLE is someone who has an extensive set of competencies, including:

  • Multidisciplinary understanding / experience of engineering 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Team builder 
  • Stakeholder management / engagement 
  • Responsible & reliable 

 

Given the international nature of our business, a TLE is someone who is willing to travel.

Selection process:  

After your application, there will first be a short phone call with the Corporate Recruiter. Subsequently, the selection procedure consists of two rounds of interviews. The first interview will be with the manager and a direct colleague. During the second interview, a manager from a different department and someone from HR will join. If everyone is enthusiastic, a phone call follows to discuss the terms of employment.
