What’s the opportunity?
Our team in Leeds are rolling out multiple new products and features. We need a strong Senior QA Engineer, with experience with automation testing, to join our team of dedicated Test Engineers. We need someone to help support our test automation, DevOps process, and development projects.
Your initial induction to our Products eco-system will involve you with the end to end testing of our Cloud based filtering solution, which involves Cloud apps, Windows Clients and Browser extension testing. This will give you the best chance to understand how we deliver market leading filtering solutions to 10 millions kids worldwide.
After your induction, you’ll play a key role in supporting our mission of creating safe online environments in which children can thrive. You’ll work in our Appliance team of testers, developers and a product owner to help produce and improve quality software.
A daily part of your role will be to work closely with the developers to test new features and assist in rolling these out into production. The primary focus of the team is to maintain a bespoke Linux-based distribution comprising of key components such as: firewall, web-content filter, authentication. This software runs on top of a line-up of hardware appliances which customers install into their network. Because of this, the environment our software is deployed into can provide interesting challenges.
You won’t be bored and you’ll know that your work is truly important for keeping our wheels turning. You’ll be working across a hybrid delivery model on exciting projects that make a real life impact on our children’s digital journeys.
Here's how you'll do it:
Programmatically defining environments which mimic real-world customer installations so our software can be tested against those at scale
Including setting up services such as: RADIUS, Active Directory
Building up Smoothwall configuration profiles to define the behaviour of the Smoothwall so that testing is reproducible and predictable.
Creating an automation set of functional tests in that environment to run to check how the changed software behaves for any regressions.
You’ll manage & support creating automated tests for User Stories
Working within a development team using an Agile Process which includes taking part in the Agile ceremonies such as daily stand ups, refinement sessions, planning & retrospectives.
You’ll be part of a larger testing team working remotely but with the option to work from the Leeds office.
